URGENT Advice Please - family sick need to leave Oz today

Hi everyone,

My husband applied on approx the 4th of June 2015 for his Partner visa.

We received the email in Feb stating that if we had all in by end of April, we could be processed by end of June. At the start of July, I emailed immigration to find out if I could get a status update as we were pretty excited at the thought that he might get processed.

I got a really strange response basically saying that they had had a lot of people apply for this and that everyone is being processed in order and that we didn't have a CO yet and that they were currently processing people from applications in June 2015 and finally that we shouldn't contact again.

Irrespective of the confusing message (as we applied on 4th of June 2015), we have just continued patiently waiting.

However on Saturday just gone (9th July), we received a call from my husbands doctor in Brazil advising that his mum had been rushed to hospital and they strongly suspected liver cancer due to jaundice and certain pains. This morning we just found out from the doctor it is terminal, has spread through her body and likely doesn't have long to live. My husband is of course very, very distraught. We have both left work to organise for him to leave for Brazil on a flight tomorrow morning asap. The problem is that I am 12 weeks pregnant so I can't go with him due to Zika.

The worry I have is that I remember someone saying that if he gets the application processed while he is outside the country he might not be able to come back in. Is this true? Can anyone advise what we need to do to optimise his chances to come back into the country without any issues.

I have been waiting twice this morning on hold for the department of immigration and twice the automated system has called me back for the phone call and then suddenly an automated female voice said: "The requested page cannot be found" and hung up on my call. The first time I waited 35 minutes and the second an hour and 5 minutes. I have now been waiting on hold again for 25minutes and i'm about 9th in the queue but again I don't know if this is going to go through so I don't know who i can ask about this.

Any help you can offer I will be eternally grateful.

Thank you kindly.

Presumably your husband holds a bridging visa A, make sure he obtains a Bridging visa B, before he departs Australia, or he will not be able to return.
