HR/Policy & Planning occupation

Hi all,

I am planning to relocate to Australia soon. I have 10+ yrs of exp in Human Resources and my agent said i could apply for Policy and Planning Manager which is currently in 190 visa list for South Australia.

- How long does it take to get the PR?
- how easy us it to find a HR job in South Australia?
- my agent is Best Migration Services. Did anyone use them earlier? Any feedback will be very helpful.

Asa Policy and Planning Manager you will be assessed by Vetassess. They will examine your work experience and see how much experience you have in doing the following activities:

* developing, implementing and monitoring strategic plans, programs, policies, processes, systems and procedures to achieve goals, objectives and work standards

* developing, implementing, administering and participating in policy research and analysis

* coordinating the implementation of policies and practices

* establishing activity measures and measurements of accountability

* overseeing and participating in the development of policy documents and reports

* consulting with and providing expert advice to government officials and board members on policy, program and legislative issues

* representing the organisation in negotiations, and at conventions, seminars, public hearings and forums convened to discuss policy issues

You had better be sure that you have had experience in these activities otherwise you may get a negative skills assessment.

Thanks Jeremy. I do have experience in policy and planning activities you mentioned.

But my apprehension is about the ease of finding a job in that domain once i get my PR.

any thoughts on that?

Your best idea is to go to employment websites and see what is available. The best one is SEEK - Australia's no. 1 jobs, employment, career and recruitment site

There seem to be several HR jobs on portals. However, I have read in other threads about employers insisting on local Australian experience. Is that applicable to HR domain also? Because, I would obviously not have it right away.

As a migrant to a new country you may have to set your sights a bit lower than your current position so that you can get Australian experience. If you are good at your job you will get promoted soon enough ..

I'm in a similar profession, 12 years in hr 7 of them in manufacturing of electronics. I'm planning to apply for visa 190 with NT nomination. I wish I could try to go for high points and get on supplement list with SA butbhonestly don't think I could get 80. As of right now I have 70 points for age, Australian degree, work experience overseas and proficient English. If you don't mind let's keep in touch and see how it goes for both of us. Good luck!

Great!

I got a couple of responses from 2 agents today, 1 said I might not be able to obtain nomination, the other said I might be able to I guess I might have to ask around a lot more before making up my mind to go ahead or give up all together. By the way I just read that Queensland is updating their list on 25th of July. I'm crossing my fingers right now for HR Adviser to be put on the list.
