Unhappy Student visa (573) --> Alternative exit --> De facto visa (801 & 820)

Hi there,

I am currently holding a student visa (573). It expires in March 2017. However, due to many reasons, I have decided to use alternative exit to get my Graduate Diploma rather than a Master degree.

I will graduate so soon!

I and my Australian partner are ready to submit our de facto visa application. (We have met the requirement to live together at least for one year.) But I am very worried about my student visa situation because once I have completed the alternative exit award, my visa will expire sooner than it was. (1 semester less) How long will I have?

When should I submit my de facto visa application? It will not be great if I have to hold BVE visa rather than a BVA visa. How should it be done?

Any help would be appreciated!! Thank you!!

Best,
Plantie
