Re entering Australia for tourists?

Hi, my 2nd year work and holiday visa is due to expire soon but I'm worried I won't have the time to see a satisfactory amount of Australia in time. I'm wondering if it is possible to leave the country for a period of time and return on a tourist visa? If so what is the time period I need to be outside Australia before I can apply also. Thanks for your help in advance

Hi -

While there is no specific time period you need to remain outside Australia, the key to getting the visitor visa through is establishing that you are coming here for a temporary stay - and not to continue work for your prev employer, etc from the working holiday visa. Best to have ready a specific itinerary, your goals/plans while in Australia, and evidence of ties to your home country such as bank account(s), any assets owned, letter from your employer stating you'll be returning to a job, etc. They may ask for this after you lodge your visitor visa application.

Best,

Mark Northam
