820/801 Visa & BVA

Hey all,

Apologies if this has been asked a million times, but after a lot of toggling and reading, we've confused ourselves more than ever, so just looking for some current answers...

I'm British and my partner is Australian. We usually work in snowsports, but with our differing nationalities, it has made visas for us hard, so we have decided to return to his home country to settle and are going to apply for the partner visa to enable us to both live and work in Australia.

I have already previously utilised the working holiday visa years ago, and have previously been visiting his family in Aus on an e-visitor 651 visa. This will be the visa I renew to enter Australia on.

My questions are:

1) if I enter Australia on an e-visitor 651 visa in September , and then submit my 820/801 visa in October do I automatically receive a BVA ?
2) does the BVA give me automatic right to work in Australia without restriction?
3) if I have to wait for the e-visitor 651 to expire, do I have to wait the three months that I am allowed to be in Australia at a time on for the BVA to kick in or do I have to wait the whole year that the 651 allows return entry on to expire?

Thanks heaps in advance for any help!!! Nervous to book flights until we know what the deal is for certain!
