Hi all.. I spoke to the immigration department today who advised that processing time for de Facto Visa was 15 months yet I see that some of you have only waited a matter of weeks?? How are you getting them processed so quickly??
I recently read that DIAC is no longer promising priority processing for decision-ready applications due to the fact that more and more people are lodging decision-ready applications. They still say it is the best way to lodge, but are no longer saying they can expedite them.
However, if you are applying onshore then at least you are with your partner if it does take 15 months...
Personally, we chose the offshore option because I would not have been able to work... For us, 5 months apart with a visit in the middle was better than waiting for up to 2 years unable to work.
I've seen many people talk here about lodging decision-ready applications, and their applications take months (or even years), not weeks. The ones that are only taking a few weeks to process are definitely the very rare exception rather than the rule. I wouldn't pin your hopes or make any plans on yours happening that quickly at all.
The quick grants obviously always get posted and responded to a lot, but I believe it's far from common and there is no formula or trick for it.
