How long to wait?

I'm applying for a skilled independant visa. I was asked to go for my medical and upload all my documents. I'm a UK citizen.

I uploaded everything on dec 8th 2012.

I know christmas holidays must have taken 2 weeks off the processing time but how long does this usually take?

Just eager to get over there, I loved my last trip. Australia is the best country in the world, in my opinion!

Thanks,
Andy

Yes, nemesis, please shed us some light on that subject if you know something. We would really like to know what is happening.

I uploaded the documents and it says "processing..." but there was no submit button or a reply saying thanks for uploading everything. In the back of my mind I was thinking if I'd done it wrong it'd take ages to find out.

I sent the case officer an email asking for confirmation I did everything ok. One email in 7 weeks can't be hasseling them.

Before my pr got approved, i did keep on bugging my agent to send emails and whatever they can to check on our status. As my agents was given some answers saying that DIAC try to clear all the backlogs application before July 2012.
I also being told that all submission were based on queue 'internationally'.
However, they did 'kick the ball' asking us to refer HOC which is impossibile as even my agent also don't know who to refer to besides our CO. I did refer and check to other forums which did mention that currently they're processing medical submission on Nov & Dec 2012.
I also learned that they're trying to clear all the old visa and assessing the new visa which implement after July 2012.
If you're on the final stage on medical assessment, you're not far away now.
My piece of advise, be patient and try to save as much money as you can for heading down under.

Sounds like your medicals have been sent to HOC in Sydney who review medicals and this means they are in the backlog and when I was waiting on my love's to be done it was a 8 week wait...not sure what it is now.

You can ring them and find out what date they are currently process but this is an exercise in tenacity and timing. They don't always answer the phones so I just rang and rang till they did (the rest of the time it goes to voice mail and you can leave a message). When you get through I always found the ladies helpful if you are polite and not too pushy. No point in asking about your medicals per say as they cant tell you anything...just ask what date they are currently processing and thank them.

I did this every week for 8 weeks till ours were done and as it turns out they misplaced our and they weren't done so it was good I kept on it. I posted to a thread all that time letting the others know what date the medicals were up to as everyone else either didnt get a response from HOC or couldnt get through so I hope you have the luck I had.

Thanks for info, nemesis.

They are trying to clear all the backlogs? I can see a lot of people here on the forum whose application hasn't been cleared for a year and I am one of those backlogs too and I don't see any progress. As a matter of fact, there is decrease in number of grants last few months and increase of processing time. I will be very happy if they manage to realize their plans, really like to witness all those backlogs being cleared and granted and that they finally manage to go back to their usual roots. Current results are not in their favor right now.

i think the best way is send an email or call your CO every month or week. Asking them is there any additional info required and what is the issue holding back the grant?Try to follow up as close as you can.
I did mine closely as i don't want them to put my case on tray unattended.
Even though i appoint an agent, however, i still need to follow up myself.
I saw quite a number of PMV being delayed. Just try the suggestion above, i believe this is the only way to make them work effectively.

Yeah I haven't got the result too from my medical that been sent to HOC electronically on December 2012... My CO has emailed them, but no news yet from her. My bf tried to ring them many times, but always went to the answering machine. Guess you're so lucky melandabdul that they answered your calls

Anyhow, i was trying to email the health strategies after got no luck by rang&emailed HOC, this the answer I got (at least its not an automatic generated email response):

Dear ,

The Health Strategies helpdesk is responsible for assisting clients to undertake their health examinations via eHealth, and for facilitating the electronic transfer of health examination results from the panel clinic to DIAC.

Responsibility for processing the results of health examinations resides with the Global Health office in Sydney. However, they are currently experiencing a significant backlog of work. Please do not contact them directly regarding the status of health examinations- it is better that they focus their efforts on finalising outstanding medicals.

It is therefore best if you direct all enquiries about the status of health examinations to the processing centre responsible for the visa subclass. The case officer will be able to provide you with information about the status of your health case (unfinalised, referred to MOC, or finalised) based on the information in the visa processing system; and escalate the enquiry on your behalf if necessary.

A list of contacts for visa processing centres is available on the DIAC website: Contact Us - Department of Immigration and Citizenship

Regards,

Health Strategies and Coordination Section
