Hi there all! I am new here and am glad to see I am not the only one who is frustrated with the time frame on this Visa. I applied for a 309 back in April 2013 and have heard nothing! I have been with my husband 13 years, married for 8 and we have a son. I have a heart condition that I worry might be causing the delay, have had 2 open heart surgeries for a congenital defect and will probably need another somewhere down the line. Anyone have any experience or know anything about this sort of thing??

Hi there, I know that they have received all of my information, medical and police. I have called on numerous occasions and they tell me that they do not require any additional documentation and that my case is still be assessed. I am starting to get worried!

If you have a medical condition, it's possible your medical has been referred for further assessment. Otherwise, the processing time for overseas visas is higher than it used to be due to volume of applications. I'd avoid calling unless you have a very specific and relevant new question (e.g. you're going to visit Australia and want to let them know so you can get offshore when the visa is ready to be approved). A "any news?" call only risks annoying them and also takes them away from actually reviewing and processing visas.

I was wondering if they were getting annoyed but since I cannot actually speak to my case officer I figured that it couldn't hurt to ask (hoping!). I am having a hard time with being patient to say the least. Chicago is cold and I am looking forward to that Aussie sun! Just hoping that I won't be denied based on medical stuff.

Hi Cheenz

I have lodged 309/100 on 6 Augt 2013 from Indonesia, Police character check submitted on 13 Augt 2013, acknowledgment letter received on 21 August 13, completed the medical check on 4 Sept 2013. No CO assigned yet. On 5 Nov 2013 I have sent email to jakarta permanent entry departement asked for their confirmation of all additional document that i submitted thru AVAC Jakarta, and I’m glad the case officer (i think she is my case officer but i'm not sure) replying me, mentioned that she will aim to contact me within 6 months from the date of lodgement of my application. And now almost 5 months on 6 January 2014. I hope they will give me good news soon.

Cheers.
