How far can we push CO

HI all,

This waiting is doing my head in!

We lodged PMV in Novemeber (FIJI) and still haven't received our acknowledgement. I emailed last week (3rd time) after being told they were moving to the migration caseload on the 9th January. I was surprised when within 10 minutes i got a reply from someone stating they were our case officer and that acknowledgement letters would be sent out by COB Friday last week. So Last week was great because we finally felt like there was movement on our visa.......... but no......No acknowledgement by COB Friday......still nothing. and back to waiting

It does state in DIAC's Client Service charter that all visa's will be acknowledged within 7 days of receipt. How much can I push them to stick to there standards?
Obviously I don't want to piss them off, but seriously somethings got to give !

Ok feeling slightly less uptight now i got that off my chest

Wait likes this.

I would contact them and ask if they had sent it to the right email.

Someone recently went through the complaints channel on the main page of the IMMI site and got good response after raising an issue there. Not sure if it was Louiseb or someone else but there is always a fine line.

I always think that this person will be assessing my application and might take a negative look at my process cos I complained...but we also have rights.

You need to decide for yourself. I guess if you complain you can always make it subtle like, I was thinking there is a system error cos the charter says I will get this in 7 days and I didn't get it. You know deflect the blame.

Sorry I haven't really answered...but I do know whoever complained got their visa moved and approved within A SHORT TIME.

Well when we hadn't received our acknowledgment I rang and said I was wondering if something had been sent to the wrong email and they checked they had the right email, they said they did and would contact Washington on our behalf to ask them to acknowledge us. We got an acknowledgment 3 days after that.

Thanks KttyKat and Melandabdul. I know they have the right email address because the CO replied by email the other day and even cc'ed my work email address. Perhaps I'll give them a call in a day or two and just ask if it was sent to the right one - Just so they know i'm still waiting for it

Thanks melandadbdul yes it was i and frustel that complained, but considering we had both being waiting months and months ( i dont wish to go into the full details about CO ) we had the right to take things further and complain. Obviously our complaint ( and im sure there were others ) didnt fall on deaf ears and within a couple of weeks our visa,s had being granted.

Its a hard and difficult decision to take especially when we are fustrated, the Co has us over a barrel to be honest if we complain too much then they can take the huff and decline the application or leave us waiting for months on end.

I personally complained not only to my agency but to the DIAC, as i said without too much info both Frustel and I went through a very rough time and after learning a little more about CO after our Visa,s were granted we had every right to do so, we would still be waiting now if we hadnt complained. Obviously the DIAC were aware of this CO and im sure after many complaints they decided to take action.

The problem is we cannot push our CO,s for an answer unfortunatly they have the power to leave us fustrated, and there is nothing we can do. The chances are if you push them to hard they will send a short but sweet email back informing you that your application is being attended to and dont waste there time with emails.

Mid last month (Jan 2013) my partner also emailed our CO in Suva, Fiji (where he lodged his application for PMV) and asked if any further documentation was required from our side... CO replied in an email that our application is in final checking stages. I asked Mark Northam (a CO here in Austr.), he explained that usually means to either:
1. Back off and stop annoying them, they will put our application at the back of the stack;
or,
2. Our PMV Application should hopefully be granted within the month (if it is to be granted).

Background Info: All papers incl Medicals and Police Checks lodged Austr. High Commission in Suva, Fiji on Aug 26, 2013.
Medicals and Police checks came back all clear.
Now, it's just a matter of the big WAIT!!!

Hang in there people... we're all in this together

OK so i waited another week ( so 3 weeks all up) and sent through a very carefully worded email to the CO asking if the acknowledgment letter had been sent to the right address.

Within 2 hours I received the acknowledgement letter requesting meds and police clearance be done. That was great. But i was a little blown away at the response in the email. All it said was " thanks for reminding me".

wow.

Imagine how long will you wait for it if you didn't asked about acknowledgement letter.
Who knows...?
