Tourist Visa for Australia

Hello everyone! I am going to apply for a Tourist visa next week for 3 months to have a holiday with my boyfriend. Do I need to have a medical assessment? Thank you in advance

No, unless you're staying in Australia more than 12 months or you meet one of the "special significance" conditions such as working in a classroom, studying to be or working as a doctor, etc - see more here:

Thanks again Mark. I have more questions just to make sure before I lodge my visa. I asked my boyfriend to send the letter of invitation. What are the content of the letter? Do we have to state in the letter how we met that we are bf & gf? Regarding the employment letter, they only gave me certificate of employment it stated there how much I make, when i was hired, contact details of my employer but no leave of absence explanation. Do you think I still need the letter of absence? Do I also need to provide the round trip tickets even if the visa is not yet granted? please help again. Thanks!

Invitation should invite you to visit and - importantly - contain a schedule/itinerary of your planned activities.

It would be best to have the employment letter say that you have a job to come back to at the end of your trip (that you will remain employed while you're gone, or be hired back when you return after leave, etc).

It is not required to purchase the tickets prior to getting the visa granted.

Hope this helps -

Best,

Mark Northam

Thanks again Mark. How about the letter of invitation, does it have to be original or is it possible just scanned and printed? Thanks

I recall applying for a visa for 12 months i was asked to send a letter from my employer to confirm that my job was still waiting for me once i returned back to Malta. It was to make sure i hadnt left my job and planning on living in Australia.

Thank you Louiseb. I will make sure to get a letter from my employer. How about the letter of invitation, does it have to be original with signature or is it possible to just scan & print it? Thank you

Hi to be honest i cannot remember, i must have scanned it as i applied online i hadnt engaged in an agent at the time, so i think a scanned copy is enough but dont take this as gospel as im not 100% sure. If your applying online im sure if you scanned it if there is a problem they will let you know for sure.

I know for sure i had to enter AU before a decision had being made, and my 12 month application was rejected due to this.

sorry im not much help on this.
Louiseb

Generally originals not required for employer ref letters - colour scan is fine. Lately DIAC is seeming to be fine for online applications with colour scans (uncertified) or black & white scans (certified copy) although we recommend everything be certified when possible.

Best,

Mark Northam
