There have been some rather dramatic changes to skilled migration processing effective of 01 January and 16 March this year because of the global economic circumstances effect in Australia and though the 476 visa is one of the classes that new restrictions/priority procssing do currently not apply to, I'd suspect that all skilled visas applications have to some extent been caught up in the new processing and thus some delays will likely occur.

The government had initially said that all 2008 visas would be processed without being affected by new regulations but that has now changed and it is again just something that could be having an overall impact on the department processing even though 476 are excluded from changes.

You could attempt emailing the department, there being contact links on the immi site but it may just result in a standard type response and patience is the order of the day.

Our second sticky thread at the top of this section has details of the changes including updated FAQ you can reference.

Hi Jazmir,

I'm also doing the 476 and have applied in March 2008. I've received a CO in March 2009 (just a few weeks ago). So based on my experiences, I would say that you should expect to hear from your CO by October? I'm not sure how immi is doing this right now. I know they have cut staff, but then they have tightened up the skills which quality for Skilled Migration so they should be receiving fewer applications? I don't know if that will balance out or work towards / against your processing time.

Best of luck,
Scootergirl
