Only found out when I emailed my original co last month that she she wasn't on my case anymore... Only reason I was given is to "even out the load". Sooo, now am having to provide some of the same information I already gave 6 months ago. This co has only started (according to her email) to look at my case two weeks ago! I am very unhappy about this as it means my case has just sat for who knows how long with no one working on it. I have not seen my fiance in a year and a half (aside from skype everyday) because we used our visiting money for the visa. Our wed date was set for April 20 which I highly doubt I am going to make it there in time now

This waiting makes me so nervous!! Our friend from NY got hers approved in 8 weeks! I'm just concerned about my son being able to start school on time (kindergarten next Jan/Feb). I guess if it came to it, we could just relocate with me on an ETA since the kids already have Aussie passports.

Yes I am talking about for the same visa. What I mean is did the first CO ask you to submit this info and then the 2nd CO ask you to submit it again?

Let me explain myself better. I submitted papers with my initial application. When the CO contacted me, she wanted me to submit the same paper I had already submitted. This was for the same visa, we are also waiting on a PMV

I have heard of this happening a lot....I don't know the truth of why other than my own theory that I outlined earlier. The reason I have that theory is also based on one part of the phone interview I had (as the sponsor) a number of months ago for my fiance's PMV. The CO said, "So....you're not working?!" To which I replied, "Yes I am, I have two jobs."

At the time I thought nothing of it, but she had ALL of my paperwork in front of her and the employment section is a BIG part of the paperwork so she knew my work situation and this question was a test. A test to see if I would reply with the same answers I had put down on the application...an integrity test.

That is what I think the asking for the same paper to be submit is...it is an integrity test. To make sure you have the paper sit and to see that it is still the same as what you handed in earlier.

They will tell you normal processing time in DC is from 5 Months to 12 Months if you ask, As long as you get them the requested documents it should not affect your time too much. The Case officers process the applications in the order they where received, I don't think they have gotten to October yet. I Know its very frustrating Gollygolly, my wife is going crazy with the wait as we are waiting apart. But shouldn't be too long before they get to our group of applications!

I was in contact with her until middle of Nov. and then I did not hear from her again. I figured best not to bother her but after not hearing anything for a while... I contacted her to see what was going on as our wed date is fast approaching. I got a reply within an hour from her (I really liked her- she always replied within the same day and was very nice and helpful). Anyway she said that she was no longer on my case. I asked why, she told me just to even out the load and she would forward my email to the other co. I asked would it change my processing time. She assured me not but I don't know. The new co did not contact me about the email for almost 2 weeks after and then any email I asked her after that was not answered for days to a week. Then she says just two weeks ago she has JUST started looking at my case. So where does that put me if she has just started looking at it??? She is not very friendly either, not like the other one. The stuff I am having to submit is a letter of sponsorship for my son from my fiance (which he WAS included in the sponsorship form that they have you fill out and submit with the app- but she insists he wasn't - I have a copy I KNOW for a fact he was) and also to prove he is my dependent (which I already sent in that info too). I asked her to be specific of what else she wants but she was vague on the answer. I think it is just to stall as all that was already sent... So, anyway I had to get my fiance to send a letter from AU and now I have to send to the immi office which has now wasted another two weeks!

Its by order of application date of a valid Application, it would go by your OCT 4th date :-) Your 5 Months still count :-)

Because if it goes by the order the CO receives it then that would start me over at two weeks ago with the last 5 months meaning nothing!

I don't have any email details for my CO. Curious to find out how many do have some contact with their appointed CO. On a side note, I finally emailed an enquiry to Washington DC via the DIAC website, and got my response 3 days later. It was a generic response of processing times of 5-12mths and not to arrange travel to Australia without a visa blah blah. I'm starting to get fustrated with the whole process now. I know many of you feel the same.
