So to clarify...do ALL medicals get sent to Australia for review even if you are applying elsewhere (USA)?? Mine were Efiled but I don't know if that makes a difference.

We just repeated our medical last week here in the UK (ehealth). We supposedly have no other issues outstanding. It was a repeat because the previous one we did in the USA in mid 2011 has (unsurprisingly) expired.

My medical was done manually (big mistake there). Do you think it's a good idea for me to re-do the medical, fork over the $525 all over again to do it electronically?

Hi, yes, all offshore medicals are sent to Sydney (Health operations center), a third party. They process these medicals. You are wise in getting your medical done electronically. I bet you money you will get your visa before me-keep me updated! A panel doctor I spoke to today said that once they get your test results, these are sent for clearance and this can happen within a day!

Interesting. I didn't know that. I called the embassy yesterday and they said they received the medical on Feb 25th but other than that, I have no clue! Did you submit to Washington DC? I know this sounds dumb but I assume the Efiled ones are just emailed to Sydney whereas the manual ones are sent en masse to Sydney via mail?

When you called the DC embassy, did you talk to someone in CANADA? I really like that, not. The same thing seemed to happen to me. My paperwork, not efile, was sent to the DC embassy, and my CO told me it was received after I initiated the question. Low and behold, I wanted to know what the hold up was, and she told me about this third party. She couldn't give me a timeline of when the health assessment, which has been forwarded to Sydney, is cleared. And, your electronic health check will be electronically sent to Sydney,
"When you visit an eHealth or eMedical enabled clinic,
the examining doctor will submit your health examination
results and digital x-rays online. Your results will then be
electronically sent to the departmentís Global Health office
for assessment. Cases are generally assessed within 48
hours, but most within minutes!
 Electronic health processing makes the process of meeting the departmentís health requirement significantly
faster. "

I think you are in good form if you have recently applied for your visa if that is the case? I applied in August, and haven't heard a word. I think you should hear from your CO soon if you are done with your police checks and medical!

I can't speak for your situation at all, but can't see how it would be any quicker doing another ehealth now given you would already be in the "system"... by January - it just took you a little while to get there via snail mail. If you are concerned about the results of your medical and that something was found, that might be a legitimate reason to contact your CO?

If it were me I'd be wary of doing a medical soon after completing one - as to not be seen to be "Panel shopping" (i.e. a perception of trying to get a better medical result at a different doctor) - as noted in here: http://www.immi.gov.au/gateways/pane...structions.pdf

I spoke to an Australian woman on the phone and she asked which country I was calling from so I have no clue where she was! My application was received at the end of January so I'm not holding my breath for a grant anytime soon based on reading the forums!
