No worries.

Q 1 - To change the visa conditions on your bridging visa - we wrote the name of the visa "Bridging visa A"

Q 3 - visa grant number - we put in the number of the current bridging visa A (we found that info on the VEVO)

Q 4- Class of visa currently held ... we put in the current bridging visa - WA 010

Part D – Change of condition(s) to bridging visa

Q 17 - we left it blank, cause we didn't know what to tick, but now we would have ticked the first one - only permission to work OR permission to work as well as to change any other visa conditions of your visa

Q 18 - we left it blank, but now we'd tick "No"

Q 19 - Are you seeking permission to work on the basis of financial hardship?

We left it blank on purpose, cause none of those two options reflected our current situation (that we want the bridging visa changed due to new regulations) ...

Further Q about financial details - we left it all blank, cause we weren't proving financial hardship (we could, but we didn't want to because of the new regulation)

Part F – Details of other reasons
If you are applying for a bridging visa based on other reasons, please list those reasons

And in the box we wrote that my partner applied for a partner visa in April 2012 and he's currently holding a bridging visa A with visa condition 8101: No work. With the form 1005 and this cover letter he's applying to change his bridging visa A conditions and be granted working rights. ... And that he's been told by a DIAC employee at the call centre (13 18 81) that due to the new bridging visa regulations he doesn't have to prove financial hardship anymore in order to get work restrictions lifted.
Based on that he answered “NO” to the questions 18 and 19 in the 1005 form, as he doesn’t need to prove financial hardship any longer.

We attached a cover letter with basically the same text.

Considering there weren't any detailed instructions, we filled the form 1005 as best as we could, and it must have been good enough as we got the restrictions lifted. We were hoping we were going to get his partner visa granted instead, but no luck. Well, at least he can work now (whether he will anytime soon is a different matter, he sure loves his holidays).

Glad to hear you've got everything sorted out! I had no idea that people on BVA's before November would continue to have those restrictions on their visas. If they're going to lift them, they should just LIFT THEM. Grats!

I am not sure if it was the form I dropped off last week, or the one I sent in yesterday. If it was the one yesterday them that was super fast!!! Thanks to everyone for your help!!!
