489 visa timeline

Hi guys,

I am going to apply for an Australian visa and it will probably be "Skilled - Regional (Provisional) (subclass 489) visa"

I know rules have been changing a lot and now it's using pooling system (EOI). I've calculated and the points i will be getting all is 60 which is the minimum.

Anyone here applied for 489 visa recently during the EOI process? I would like to know what's the timeline from getting your application into the EOI , being selected from the pool and when did you get the visa? Any feed back would be great! thanks!

Hi Barney -

Are you getting 60 points including the 10 points for state sponsorship for the 489?

As this is a state/territory sponsored visa, you need to lodge your EOI, then apply for state sponsorship in a state that is sponsoring for your occupation code. If/when you are approved for state sponsorship, they will then issue an invitation through the EOI system and you can apply for the visa within 60 days. Prior to lodging your EOI you will need to complete a skills assessment and get IELTS scores of at least 6 on all bands, and higher if the state you choose for sponsorship has added IELTS requirements (some required 6.5 or 7 on each band depending on the occupation).

Hope this helps -

Best,

Mark Northam

Hey Mark!

Actually i have only 55 points with out any sponsorship points. Unfortunately the state i am going doesn't have the job on their list so i am going for family sponsorship which will give me an extra 5 points.

That should work too right?
