Just a quickie am I right in understanding that now im married a few weeks ago (prior was In a defacto relationship for 2 years) I can apply for 820/801 visa immediately, once I apply would I be entitled for a Medicare card? As im not 100% sure ( and I will be using Mark Northam carnt be doing with all the hassle) I thought I,d ask.
Yes on both as Ms Swan said. I applied for my 309 within a week of being married and applied for a medicare card before my visa was granted and was given an interim paper card on the day and a plastic interim card a couple of weeks later.
Hi louiseb,
Once you apply for a partner visa and get a confirmation you can take your letter to Medicare and apply. They will give you a temporary Medicare number on the spot.(they did for us)
Don't quote me on this
but we can actually claim everything from the day we submitted our forms. So if you have submitted your forms but have not yet receive a confirmation from immigration you can still see the doctor and make a claim after when you applied for medicare.
