Still in process...

Hi everyone,

I was encouraged by the quick processing times some members have received, so I thought I'd call up DIAC for an update on my 820 application

After 40 minutes waiting on the line (and $50 in mobile phone credit), someone answered my call! But no, my application is still in process and he don't know if I've been assigned a CO (because the information is not available to him).

He did say
(i) "2-3 months before a decision is made, a generic email will be sent out" and if my medicals/police check have expired then, the email will state the request for the documents.
(ii) current processing time is 12 months (he's in Melbourne, but my processing centre is in Perth, so perhaps this is a generic timeframe??)

Hope that helps.. And now, back to cultivating the virtue called "patience".. Hang in there, other waiting-on-a-response visa applicants/sponsors!

I received my generic diac email on Feb 12th, 2013 requesting that I get turn in any police checks and medical, as I am soon to be assigned a case officer. That is 11 days short of one year from when we filed. Still haven't heard anything further, or if we've been assigned a co yet. Waiting is a whole new kind of torment.

I got assigned a case officer in the same formality email about them receiving my app and telling me to get my FBI and meds done ASAP...how is it some are still waiting for a CO?

Life in immigration purgatory is a mystery.

Onshore applications are handled differently. It would seem you either get a grant within days to weeks or you wait for a year or more onshore.

since I had been proactive and got my medicals done and sent my police check with my app I haven't been asked for anything....I've just been waiting all this time. I can only hope they have what they need. I to this day have not had any contact from my CO directly....I can only hope that means they are waiting for finalization from Oz as well with my medicals. You just have no way of knowing

By the way, if there is something wrong with your medicals, the doctors are required BY LAW to inform you so you can go get treatment.

Well, that's true if there's something they diagnose that you are unaware of and you need to go get treatment for. But there can be things in your medical history that are no longer an issue that still get your medicals referred, or current things they know you're already aware of. Anything like that can get your medicals referred, and they wouldn't be required to tell you.

I got a copy of my medicals and there is no indication of any medical problems....so I just figure I'm in the pile
