Help. National Federal police check what does it list

Hi guys,

we submitted our partner application 2 weeks ago, got a phone call today saying our visa application is great, just we gave them a national police clearance rather that a federal one.

Can anyone tell me what it lists on a federal police clearance????

I have heard they include traffic infringements. Is this true, how does it affect your character assessment ?

Thanks

I assume you're talking about your Australian police check, and that they've told you to submit the "National Police Check" done by the "Australian Federal Police"? Ref this: National Police Checks - Australian Federal Police

At least that's the police check we had done, and everyone else I've seen in this forum...

I'm not sure about traffic infringements, but my partner was fined for "possession of
graffiti instrument" almost 10 years ago, and that turned up there, hehe But I don't think this is the sort of stuff they care about, nor traffic tickets etc. if that's what you're worried about (unless you have an unreasonably large amount or were caught drunk driving or something - in which case they might look into it and want some more statements etc)

That is my impression, at least!

hmm thanks for your reply.

Yes drink driving was one offence, but it was just over the limit which only gave a few demerit points and a written fine. Still looks really bad if you ask me and it is bad Not sure if this will turn up on the record and how diac will see it. Worried as

I think it would also matter how long ago it happened... but maybe someone in the forum has had a similar issue and can tell you about their experience!

Shouldn't be a problem. DIAC only concentrates on offences that attract =>12 months prison service (served, suspended or equivalent in community service).

This is not an immigration advice
