Not related uncle willing to sponsor for migration to australia

I'm planning to apply for visa 176 to australia. I have an uncle who is willing to sponsor. Unfortunately, he's not related to me. But he's a family friend for more than 20 years. I read that adopted uncle can sponsor. So, how can i get myself adopted by this uncle?

How do the immigration department will know that I'm related to an aunt or uncle? What if the aunt or uncle is in far relation? How do I prove that they're related? IS family tree sufficient to prove that we're related? Anyone care to enlighten me? Thank you.

I do not know what detailed checks immigration make in respect to proving relations but would expect that it would be tied into birth certificates type of evidence.

If you have a good read of all links for family in the eligibility and also the "applying for this visa" sections including an application form, I'd expect you'll find the relevant advice.

As to someone adopting you, I'd think that will be a matter outside of immigration and you and your "uncle" would need to look at adoption laws both in Australia and in your home country.
