Visa time line threads - what do you think?

I have started a couple of threads for people to post their visa application details, which other people can then use for reference. It is something a couple of people have requested and I think it could be useful.

I hope people use it as a guide only and don't get too discouraged if their application is taking longer than others.

Since most applications fall under either work related or defacto/spouse I have split it into two threads.

Visa time line - Family, spouse applications

Visa time line - Skilled and work visa applications

Please let me know what you think or if I should change anything. I think it will be useful, but it is only going to work if everyone participates.

Useful link

I found this useful link which should help us get an idea of processing timelines

Please forgive me if I am not allowed to post such a link and just delete it.

Thanks for posting the link. I have moved the post to here as I don't want to clutter the sticky with any other posts.

I saw a spreadsheet that someone made on another forum and thought it was a good idea. I thought about starting one also, but I think what I have done is working well for now.

That's the situation re security checks by external agencies unfortunately and hopefully not longer.
We do now have a timeline thread if you hadn't noticed.

Thank you for such a very informative thread. I read the Visa time line - Family, spouse applications from pages 1-69 in one sitting (as I have nothing to do but wait for tomorrow to ring the embassy), and all the while thinking that it wouldn't be as time consuming if there is a timeline archived by country or region. I think I'm asking too much but that's just what I think. Thank you so much for your time and effort in maintaining this forum for everyone's benefit.

I think the visa timeline is great, but it would be more useful if it was divided by the embassy where the application was made, or, if there are too many, maybe by continent. Then it would be easier to see how long the embassy where the application was sent is taking to process applications.
