Yep just typed out our stories, signed and dated every page in the presence of a Justice of the Peace, who then at the end had us add a final, big signature and date with his signature as well and a stamp and that was that!

How much information did you guys write for your statements? We have written almost 2 pages but I'm seeing people saying they wrote 8 pages...now I'm worried we haven't gone into enough detail!!

I'm a gushy, romantic person, so I actually enjoyed writing my statement (I even wrote about the first time we said "I love you" because it's a cute story); my statement was about 8-pages long. My partner and I have been apart for more than half of our almost 3-year relationship, so we have had a number of visits back and forth. I used my statement to write about how we met, each visit and what we did together, and why we were apart so much and how we stayed in touch during our time apart. I talked about our families too and how my boyfriend's family welcomed me and my family welcomed him. I also mentioned our joint bank account and the fact that we registered our de-facto relationship. And finally, I talked about our hopes for the future. My partner's statement was probably about 5 pages long, and he talked about the same sorts of things but not as extensively.

I wouldn't worry too much about length as long as you feel that your statement accurately represents your relationships and how much you and your partner care for and are committed to one another; after all, I am sure there are many, many people who have had their visas approved with written statements of about 2 pages - and if you think about it, the shorter your statement is, the less work it will be for your case officer to read it.

If you're still really worried, I would suggest looking through the Partner Migration Booklet for the specific points of evidence the Department is looking for (i.e. social commitment, joint memberships, shared finances, sharing household chores, etc.) and referencing how you and your partner fulfill some of those elements in your statement.

This is not migration advice, but i hope that helps!
