Australian social security benefits

Hi -
AFAIK that you will not qualify for full Australian social security benefits immediately. These would only accrue 2 years after you have migrated to Australia. What if you were on 457 for more than 2 years and then got permanent residency, will you be eligible for for social security benefits or will you have to wait for another 2 years after getting permanent residency in order to get social security benefits.

As a permanent resident you're entitled to both medicare and centrelink benefits :)

Also, I know applicants that have applied for a partner visa 820/801 are eligible for medicare once the application has been filed (but not centrelink). I am unsure about other types of visas, though. Hopefully, someone else can say something more about that :)
