Smile Malaysia Offshore Partner Visa vs Onshore Partner Visa

Hi all,

I'm wondering if the processing time in Malaysia for partner visa is much more quicker than in Australia. I have a friend who told me that she lodged partner visa application in KL and got it in 3 months. Another friend told me that it took about 5 months for his partner visa granted in Malaysia. As I know the current processing time in Australia is about 13 months (or forever?).

I'm now having graduate visa and it allows me to lodge offshore or onshore partner visa (de facto). I think to submit offshore application and return to Australia to stay with my partner and continue working (please correct me if I'm not allowed to do so).

Please share your experience here. Many thanks!

If you lodge your partner visa in Malaysia you will not be granted a Bridging Visa A. This means that if your 485 expires before your partner visa is granted, you will have to either apply for another visa, such as a tourist visa or student visa, if you wish to stay in Australia.

I suggest that you call the High Comm in KL and see if you find out more about partner visa processing times before making your decision.

Regards
