HI,

When did you submit your 801 application?

We are closing in on the two years after the 820 application, and my mind is beginning to think about this next, and final, step.

But each time I start to think, it goes blank!!

Travel

Hey.

My eligible date is coming up less that a month. I'm traveling to see my brother... and started freaking out maybe I can't leave when I'm starting this process?

Do you have to be in aus when you start uploading files?

You can start the 801 application process up to two months prior to your eligibility date, and anytime after. You do not need to apply exactly on your eligibility date. I wouldn't advise waiting over a month to put in your 801, although there have been quite a few people who didn't upload their 801 visa until six months+ later.

I'm not sure about having to lodge inside Australia, sorry I DO know you can be anywhere in the world when it's granted. How long are you going to be gone? I'd advise getting all your paperwork together now (888s, stat dec, AFP etc). If you're not ready to upload by the time you leave, and if you're only only going to be gone a few weeks you can always upload/apply when you get back.

Good luck!

Ok so fill out 2 stat dec forms, get 888s filled out, AFP and provide evidence from the last 2 years. Did I miss anything?

No need for the 40sp and 47sp this time?

Also, where do I find the stat dec form?Do I just describe our relationship from the last 2 years?

And if i were to inform them of my traveling plans, how would I do that? Phone, email ir is it a form to fill out?

I submitted my 801 ages ago. On the 30th of August 2016. My case officer contacted me September last year to ask for some documents and I never heard back since until I received the grant letter. Yes don't nred to wait you can start uploading evidence like month before to get it out of your way and not need to worry.

You can be anywhere while uploading your documents etc the only thing is you need to be inside Australia when they grant you your 801.

From the home affairs (immigration) website:

"You can be in or outside Australia when a decision is made on the permanent Partner visa (subclass 801)."

The stat decs for the 801 are different from the 820. The applicant fills out their stat dec in their application online, and the partner needs to download and fill out this form: https://www.homeaffairs.gov.au/Visas...ec_sponsor.pdf

The applicant's stat dec on the application asks the same questions, so you can pre-write your answers. Just note that the copy and paste doesn't work so you'll have to type out your answers on the application (or you can submit your stat dec form after applying and write "see applicant stat dec" for each answer in the online application stat dec form).

All information you provide should detail your relationship from the grant of the 820 onward (however long that may be). So if your 820 was granted in July 2017, you upload documents and talk about your relationship from then to now.

Unless you're changing addresses or leaving for an extended stay (2 weeks+), you don't need to notify immigration directly. Simply give proof of your travel (tickets, itinerary etc.). If your partner isn't going with you you may need to provide proof of contact while away, and explain their absence in a cover letter.
