No change of status before. It was always stated as "Received"... however I noticed there was a part said "Last Updated : (date)", probably this indicated that the docs were being assessed or being put on queue or could be just indicating the web recently updated... I don't know for sure what that means.

Cheers!

Thanks for your reply. I was curious that mine is sitting under received since I submitted. When I applied for 820, changed a couple of months later to assessment but didn’t mean nothing as I waited for 15months to get 820 so..
I applied for 820 in 11/4/2015 so everyday I check my email and ImmiAccount lol

Waiting time

Hi All,

Just after some clarity here.
My husband and I applied in April 2016, we had been together for 3 years (But only living together for two) and had been married for 6 months. But missed out on going directly to the 801.

So we applied in April 2016, his 820 was granted in December 2016 - About 8 months after we first applied. And we have now submitted his application for the 801 visa.

A few things I have read indicate the low risk, easy to process visa's are getting done earlier to help clear the backlog. Is this true ?
We are married, have been for 3 years, do not have any children and my husband is canadian with zero criminal history. We have had joint bank accounts for many years, have all our bills etc in our names and have all the supporting documentation they are requesting.

We are waiting to buy a house till his PR is granted, would be be looking at a shorter time line than the 18-24 months the gov currently have posted for processing times or should we potentially look to having it earlier than that ?

Any information, or personal experience on this would be appreciated! - Our application currently says 'Further assessment'

Alot of applications seem to be processed in around 12 months at the moment and those are the ones that they don't need to contact them for further information or have doubts about the relationship.

Hello everyone, I am new to here, but i have read the forum for a while.
I am from a low risk area, my defacto partner is PR, we have been living together since Oct 2013, I made the application for 820 in Nov 2015(just miss the 3 years direct to 801), Got visa 820 in Mar 2017, long time waiting, I guess due to my disorganised paper application. (my partner insist to do it in paper form).

My eligibility date in Nov 2017, but I found out in Oct 2017 that I have to submit another application for 801, and my partner was reluctant to do it again. so I kept waiting and waiting until March 2018, I just submitted it and now I started to upload those very little evidence to immi account.

Because we did not move, life was very stable, just go to work, did not have joint travel, did not happen much since the 820 was granted, so I really do not have much to prove. We have one joint travel that was in 2015 before the application, and we all met each other's family before the application, I got an agent this time to get some advice, they were very helpful, but my partner did not trust them(but eventually he did the paperwork).

I follow the agent's advice -
2 form 888(exactly the same two persons when we first made the application),
Application state dec,
sponsor state dec,
lease agreement,
tax return declaring having the partner,
12-16 photos with third parties,
joint travel itineraries,
invitation card with joint names,
will,
power of attorney,
joint social org. membership
ofcoz I also include my passport and other IDs, partners passport and other IDs and AFPC.
In addition to that due to the short period of time (since the grant of 820 only a few months, we do not have a lot of events happened), my agent clearly told me that I can included those meaningful events (like joint travel, meeting each other's family and wedding invitation) that happen before grant of 820.

My agent said I will only have to wait about 12 months when I meet her last time, that was Nov 2017(I am not sure whether I have to wait for longer or not), as I only submitted it this month. I hope my information help other applicants.

Once I submitted my 2nd stage application, the status is "initial assessment", not "submitted"

I don’t get it! Everyone gets the different stage status. No pattern in the status basically or there is a rule but we don’t know about it.
Since I submitted, my application is sitting under received.

I guess, it was because mine was 4 months after the eligibility date, and yours is just after it. that's why there is some difference.

However my agent told me that the Immi will process the application according to the time of submission, but I would believe the previous forum post saying that in the queue of eligibility date, not the date of submission.

I don't know about that, the status of many people including myself who submitted they're applications directly went to "Assessment in Progress" (which is now known as Further Assessment) right away! Very odd. It would be good if there was a reasoning behind it, but unless the status regularly updates I doubt there is.

It's great that there is a change in the status, at least showing some progress, PR wont be long.
