I am really appreciative that I am here ,for instance, and I love this country and doing my very best to integrate.
However, being unhappy about unreasonable and UNFAIR processing times doesn't make you ungrateful. I believe that the department can make this process more fair by processing the applications more or less in the order. I think the time frames for the second stage are quite ridiculous but I wouldn't mind so much if the process was fair to everyone. How is it impossible for them to process it in order?I am not talking about 24 of May application being processed before 25 of May, I am talking about not processing someones applications from August 2017 before they process August 2016. Is it unreasonable requirement? If they keep increasing partner visa fees ( which is the highest in the world), they could at least modify their process a bit, to actually do the applications in order. That doesn't require them to wait for anyone, they could request additional documents and move on to the next application in line.
Anyone who applied for this visa, knows that feeling of being up in the air and anxious waiting and waiting... It is not pleasant for anyone no matter what the circumstance are. Maybe, trying to be more compassionate towards each other would be more helpful than writing posts like you did in this thread?
Of course, it is a great opportunity to live in Australia, but it is pretty apparent that this country needs immigrants to keep the economy going, especially young people starting families and both working full time and paying taxes. It would help if the department of immigration was treating the applicants with some more respect ( I am talking about generic responses that people get after waiting 20+ months)...
It's no surprise when people start the partner visa process that wait times are long, even at the 801 stage. Immigration lists them in multiple places and in the last year or so have rolled out updating those times regularly. So some people are lucky and get through faster than average... the majority of people are going to be closer to listed wait times.

So why people continue to whinge continuously multiple times a day about how unfair it is when we all know the wait times are long... yeah it gets a bit annoying. Some people wait far longer than either of you two and yet can still manage to remain positive for themselves and other people.

And how much does the wait matter anyway? Yeah, PR is nice and getting citizenship is nice for some. I myself can't work in my career field until I have at least PR but I deal with it. At the end of the day, th Aussie gov't allows partners to come here and apply onshore, be given work rights, the ability to still travel offshore, and free healthcare. They could just as easily save a bunch of money and not allow you to have Medicare until you're a PR holder. Not to mention that fees may be high but there are no income requirements or anything else really besides just being in a genuine relationship with you partner.

So yeah, people should be more appreciative. A whinge here and there about wait times, sure. But everyone's in the same boat and making multiple complaints and pretending to know how it all works when none of us work in gov't does nothing. You want to make a difference in wait times? Go talk to local representatives and offer real solutions. No one likes people that complain and want change yet do nothing about it.

When there weren't as many applicants, you could walk in and apply and walk out with a partner visa same day. Obviously times have changed and not likely the number of applicants will drop to that again. And I'm sure the high number of fraudulent applicants using the easy route of partner visa to get to Oz doesn't help either as plenty of manpower, resources and time need to go into interviews and investigating relationships further.

There are a lot more reasons than what you list for longer times. It's not just staffing or the gov't intentionally dragging out your case.

I couldn't agree more that it is annoying about people constantly whinging about the wait times. This forum is to provide help in application process, get tips and ideas on your situation etc. Not just whinge and complain. Everyones application is different and the way I've figuered out how things work is that a person at DHA goes through the application and makes sure all the required info and documents are there. Some applications at this stage might be so clearcut, nothing to investigate further, nothing sparks suspicion etc and they move it to decision ready straight away to get it out of the way. If, however, anything needs a closer look at or documents are missing or incomplete it is moved to a different pile and you wait your turn from there. I've heard from various sources that the average partner visa application takes roughly 5h to look through and make a decision on. (Not swearing on this, just what I have read and been told). And it is 70000 applications in the pipeline. Doing the math you can see it is going to take a while.

Not trying to bring anyone down, but when trying to cope with the wait and come on here for some positive vibes and get slammed with all the negativity that us not going to help anyone. We all deal with the wait differently (my way is to make sense of the wait times, like my explanation at the start). Please just try and send out some positivity instead of all the complaining and negativity....attitude is contagious.

Hi every one
Some good news for me. My 801 granted few hours ago. Long journey. Started with coming to Australia in November 12 on 457. In May 14 got married so decided to apply for 820 in Dec 14. Granted 820 in May 16. Applied for 801 in December 16. My status stayed received up to 2 hours ago. Then I checked my e mail an hour ago and my immi account to find it is granted.
I submitted a v solid application with update every 3 months in the 4 categories.
2 weeks ago, after waiting for 16.5 months, I asked my employer to send a supportive letter to the department. I think that might have got them to look at my application.
Hang on there If u r in continuing committed relationship then yor turn will come. Live your life as normal.
Thank u for this forum which I followed since I was in UK FOR 457/820/801. There r great people here and v supportive and informative.
All the best

I'm actually interested in what area of Aus did you process through if you don't mind. Not sure if that matters on the 801 but just curious if there is a pattern.

I am not too sure what is that constant whinging and negative attitude you are referring to?? Because some people express their frustration with the waiting times ? Where else would people go and talk to someone’s who is going through the same process? Nobody here complains everybody day , I have been reading this forum for a while now and mostly people are just frustrated and want some support. I haven’t seen anybody here bad mouthing the immigration, calling any names etc. I must be missing something.
I personally haven’t complained to the department and planning only to do so if my waiting time exceeds the 90% time frame that is listed on their official site. Just because people with similar wait times talk to each other and express their feelings, it doesn’t mean they are putting someone in a bad mood.
And I think my point was missed about the order of processing, I am not talking so much about other factors because of which the wait times are so long, wait is fine by me when you know it is fair and there is an order to it. I guess we don’t understand each other.

I am a specialist in a hospital in NSW. Came to OZ on 457 sponsored by the Heath service in November 12. If I wouldn’t have changed my visa to partner visa I would have PR a long time ago. Basically the employer wants to offer me a permenant contract because we r short on my speciality. Every year they extend my contract on s temporary contract coz of the visa they want to stabilise the work force. So they wrote along these lines. Regarding the evidence , we have loads of joint bills, finance , will, super , holiday, etc. Basically everything required in the categories. I scan, merge, compress and then save and upload. Each document used to be just less than 5MB. All the best.
