When we applied for joint home loan (multiple banks) they all rejected us for the following conditions:
1. Both must be PR or Citizen (I was not)
2. Both should work full time, not contract, nor casual (I was on a contract teaching in a well known university with a good income, my wife was working full time in a small company)
3. Both should have worked at least one year in their current position. (My wife changed a company for a better one, and my contract was per 6 months)
4. If there is at least a dependant such as a child 18-, it affects the loan.
Later we asked for single home loan, sure they rejected us because my wife could not pass the condition 3. But they said even if that condition would be satisfied and she would be approved, because I am her dependant, they would slash the loan to almost nothing. When I asked "how am I her dependant? I earn way more money than her" I laughed "She is somehow my dependant.", the manager replied "You are on short contract, it can halt at any moment". The manager had a point.

So, I believe if a bank closes their eyes on the first condition, the other two must be satisfied.
For us, at the moment no option left except we receive the 801 result.
Hi Appguy,

It is awful to hear you have to put this on hold. I think now is quite a tricky time to get a loan as they are tightening the lending criteria, unless you satisfied most or all requirements they won't take the risks.

How long since you applied 801? I hope you receive a grant soon and can start a new life chapter.

Just hoping that we can get a quicker grant and aren't waiting the full 18-24 months. The home loan isn't the big issue, we'll simply have to wait on that...the main issue is that I'm stuck in my career until the grant, as I can't do any of my further qualifications until I have PR. I'm actually qualified to do my Senior Teacher/Level 3 Classroom Teacher, as I've been teaching for over 14 years. Unfortunately, I'm stuck until the PR comes through, which means I can't advance, can't take on higher levels in my school and can't advance in pay. I'm sure I'm not the only one facing these issues...just needed a whinge. LOL
I think your reason/issue is quite solid as teacher a highly regarded job and you have experience and qualification to advance but only stuck because of visa situation. If I were you I will wait for a couple more months then submit a polite request through enquiry form.

Yida, still no news even I've already sent through the suggestion in the feedback form. My processing time is well over 24 months as quoted in the global processing time frame.

I don't really know what to do now besides waiting patiently.

Yida, did you submit any additional documents after they advised you to send by post?
