I think they have started doing these letters again.

We were in the period of no letters, so we had to remember. But i've heard others have been getting them again.

We submitted the 801 almost 3 months after the eligibility date.

I think all applications submitted in Australia go to Australian offices, however that doesnít explain why some people take 7 months some 16. I imagine itís luck if the draw which agent you get ... I hope we all get fast agents

Hi everyone!!

My partner visa (801) was granted yesterday. I wanted to thank everyone here who has helped us here. We're happy to share our experience to everyone and if you have questions we will try to answer them if possible.

We love this forum, it has helped us while we were struggling with the visa. We were worried as we didn't upload enough evidences for the 801 application. No phone calls, no interview, no medical check-up. We also uploaded under "Other Documents" as there was no categories at all when we tried to upload the docs. But we feel relieved now.

Thank you again.

Visa timeline

25 Mar 2015 - Came to AUS on Visitor visa
28 Apr 2016 - Lodge 820 application
12 May 2017 - 820 granted
29 Apr 2018 - Lodge 801 application
08 Mar 2019 - 801 granted

De facto, same sex couple, online application

Thank you!!!

aussiesteve, jhaddie and Ejona like this.

Hi indomelbourne,

Big congrats on your successful 801 visa. Can I please ask you for some advice on my 801 visa as well?

I have the same situation as yours: de facto, online application, same sex couple , I am from a high risk country (Vietnam).

My eligibility date for 801 visa is 14/8/2018. I uploaded all documents in 09/2018. So my questions are:

1. Should I upload more documents regarding our relationship every month or every 2 months since I submitted application for the second stage 801 visa? or should I wait until the case officer asks me to upload more documents later? I just think if I provide more documents every month then we can reduce processing time.

2. You said no medical check up required for your 801 visa. The thing is I traveled back to Vietnam and visited China when I am on 820 visa, so would the case officer ask me for a second medical check up?

3. Did your partner provide Police certificate for 801 visa at all?

4. Did you register your relationship? I have not registered our relationship yet.

Thank you very much for your time. I feel so happy for you !!! I hope to have visa grant soon.

In case this helps, for points 1 and 3.

After uploading all relevant documents for the 801, we added various groups of photos to show continuing relationship during the waiting process. This may not be required, but we felt it might be handy.
We received no request for additional info before the 801 was granted.

No Police check provided for sponsor, just the applicant.

Was it saying 'further assessment' from the beginning or did it change at some point?
