Thank you a_g082 for your reply.

I'm getting a feeling, that those who get this automated email that "Your application is in progress. Your application takes time to process as we complete a number of thorough checks are the one who will be having a longer waiting time than normal. I see in previous posts, that you got this automated email and we that you waited for 23 months!

I wish my assumption is wrong.

Anybody else who got this email and can share their visa grant timeline?

Many thanks.

I think a lot of people here donít understand what imma actually needs to,do. I imagine it sent just reading what we supply and clicking accept.

I am under the impression that they need to contact our own countries to update them of our residency, also I can imagine that they make people from high risk countries wait longer in the hope their relationship falls apart as they are more likely to be fake.

I really do wish they did first come first served Iím from England so I should get a fast reply but I feel sos sorry for people waiting 20+ months

Hi guys,

I kinda need help here....

My partner and I are going overseas in a couple months to get married and honeymoon (woohoo!), we will be gone for more than six weeks.

Some parts of our trip will be extremely remote and we won't have access to mobile phone or internet. I am afraid that if the department try to contact us they won't be able to and that could effect our case.

I am thinking of sending them an email/ inquiry but worried that it is too soon to do so at 8 months mark. What are your thoughts on this?

Also, my police check will be expired in early July 19 while we are overseas, should I apply for a new one and upload before we go?

My dream is to get the grant before we leave but it seems unlikely

My timeline
Applied 820 - 2/8/16
Approved 820 - 26/3/17
Applied 801 - 5/8/18
Waiting time - 8 months 19 days

Fingers crossed for you, from a fellow a Brit a few months behind you in the process
They wanted my husband's stat dec to be witnessed which we never did for the 820 and they wanted proof of my mother in law's Australian Citizenship as she did an 888 for us. We attached this for the 820 but not 801. It was a complete oversight on my part and I'm really annoyed with myself for missing these minor things.

I got it sorted and uploaded within 4 hours, replied to their email confirming I'd done it and clicked the button to say I've submitted required documents. It's been over a month now so I'm hoping to get my grant soon!

Good luck and fingers crossed you get yours soon!

I would just double check to make sure you've uploaded everything, then upload a statement to immi account stating the exact dates you'll be gone and that you may not be able to be contacted. If I were you, I'd leave a phone number of some sort for any place that has one and the dates you're there, like a hotel for example, just in case but if everything is there, then there shouldn't be anything to worry about.

You may be right. I'm from a HR country and I understand fake relationships cases are there. But what about several real relationships? Which are of course in majority. Why DHA is putting these real relationships at risk? Thankfully this is not the case with me, as me and my wife has very strong bonding, but what about those who are real but not very strong?. If DHA is assessing relationships by putting waiting pressure then I reckon this could do more harm to real relationships than any good. There must be some other way of assessing relationships, to be honest.

True, we donít expect to be on first come first serve basis but the processing time should be more sensible than what it is now, iím in verge of reaching 25 months without any single response or request which is ridiculous.

Sorry, mines is Partner Provisional Visa 309. I jumped into this thread as I was mainly concerned regarding the automated progress email which 801/820 applicants got as well. The email was:

We are writing to inform you that your application for a Partner (Provisional) visa is in progress. Your application takes time to process as we complete a number of thorough checks.

They do internet searches and searches with other government departments from what I have heard. If a person is on Centrelink benefits they will contact Centrelink to make sure they have declared the relationship to Centrelink. They will search online for Facebook, Instagram etc to see what they can see (always a good idea to have your things set to private only).

They can also do checks on money transfers that you have sent within Australia and overseas and if you have an eBay or PayPal account what the registered address is.

They might even check recent travel overseas for both of you and see if you travel together and how long the applicant was gone if they went overseas by themselves.

My husband's home country doesn't even have it that he is residing in Australia so immigration definitely do not do that.

With the amount of visa fraud around and PR being the last step for immigration to do anything about it, it is understandable why it takes longer.
