The next day. They called my husband to verify that we're still in an ongoing relationship, then sent an email to me asking for the State Police check for my son. Now, 6 days later, I've uploaded the requested PC and emailed to say that I've now submitted it.

Hi, how did you send your enquiry? Is there a specific site?

My wife finally received her 801 Grant this morning (Sat)

22 months of waiting over, the shrieks of delight from our study when she opened the email was great to hear. Been a long road.

Timeline from the start is:

7 Feb 2014 PMV applied
11 Dec 2014 PMV granted
7 Jan 2015 Arrived Australia
10 April 2015 Got married
27 Jun 2015 820 applied
29 Jul 2015 820 granted
29 Jun 2017 801 submitted
31 Mar 2019 Equiry submitted
04 May 2019 801 granted

I can't believe I've only just found this forum! So much great information.

Would anyone be able to help me understand next steps? I already have a Subclass 820 which was applied for and granted via an immigration lawyer in the UK.

He has notified me today saying that he's received communication from the Department of Home Affairs that I'm eligible to apply for my 801 now. He's advising that they can assist me but will charge £595 for this.

My question is, is this final application massive or would it be pretty straight forward for someone to do on their own?

Congratulations. Getting that 801 is a great feeling.. Excitement and long overdue relief.

I wonder why the 801 took so long, compared to the 300 and 820, which were similar to ours.

Basically you do everything you did for Stage 1, but now all the evidence stuff is since the grant of the 820 instead of the length of the relationship. Pretty easy if you follow the steps on the website.

Congratulations @PurpleMonkeyDishwasher! I can't imagine waiting that long for the 801. So happy that you both can finally get on with your lives!
