Please update your flag here .

How does the visa subclass 801 differs from 820. I am not aware about this, can you explain some basic points that makes visa subclass 801 more better then visa subclass 820. Looking for your reply.

Well, my son arrives in Australia tomorrow; have supplied what was requested a few weeks ago...still no word. I'm tempted to send another enquiry, but don't want to be a bother. Just wish we would hear something. I'm glad I bought him a return ticket, as it looks like he'll have to go back for at least another semester of Uni in the US. Add to that, we found a house we really like; but will probably lose out on it if we don't get a grant soon. Bleh. Thanks for letting me have a little whinge. LOL

The 820 visa is a temporary resident partner visa. The 801 is the permanent resident partner visa. That's the big difference. The 820 is only a temporary visa that you have until a decision is made on the 801. Hence, the 801 is the end result of the partner visa process. Once you have the 801, you become permanent and can then later on apply for citizenship if you wish, once you've met the time requirements.

LadyRogueRayne - have you tried ring the department? When I was on 820, my process time was way over. After I ring them, a few hours later I received the grant notification. Just a different way to give them a reminder. Ring early in the morning and be extra nice and explain your situation. Sometime you will find a very helpful person that will pass your concern through. Finger crossed for you and positive energy.

The 820 is effectively only a bridging visa that you get while waiting for the 801 Permanent visa that you apply for in the 820/801 process.

If the 801 is refused, then the 820 gets cancelled.

I have heard that some people think the 820 lasts forever. It doesn't. Probably not much more than 4 years as a maximum.

Deadline to submit 801 documents?

Hi guys, sorry if this question is asked somewhere else - i tried using the custom search but nothing useful comes up

I got my 820 active right now, and got the email that states I could start uploading documents onto the immi website for the assessment. I am just curious if there is a deadline for this as my future MIL is overseas and was not able to obtain our 888 from her prior to her trip. I only have a few days left from when I initially submitted my 820.

Any info will be heaps helpful and appreciated ^_^

There's no deadline per se but they can make a decision at any time after eligibility based on what you've supplied. If all you're missing is one F888, why not just get someone else to do it for you? It doesn't have to be the same people as stage one. Or get everything else in and upload her F888 when she gets back.
