Does anybody know if I need to inform medicare that I am now on my 801 visa? Or will I just get a new card in the mail...I can't remember what happened when I went from my bridging visa to the 820

We went into an office, but we were changing the name on the card to the married name at that time too.

They told us that the new card was about to be sent out, but that would be stopped and the new name one would be posted instead.

They printed out a sheet of paper with the new one, while we waited for the actual card to come out.

Same as PMD. It was an automatic switch. I could actually access the full card in the Medicare app several weeks before the actual card came.

Interesting, I rang Medicare the other day after my 801 was approved at the end of May and asked the same question about getting the permanent card. The girl I spoke with told me I had to go into an office to apply for the permanent card because they have to sight my visa approval.

I haven't had a chance to go into an office yet and there's no real rush because my current card is valid until the end of the year, but curious that others have just gotten theirs automatically.

No need to go in. My wife's came straight through.
I remember someone finding out they got PR due to the new card coming, they didn't check the junk folder

The Centrelink/Medicare staff do not always get things right, and may give a different answer after checking it.

When we went into the office, we were told that immigration had already notified them of the visa grant. They did not require our copy of the grant.

Try checking the app and see if it's a green card or not.

Honestly don't know what I'd do without this forum sometimes! You're right, it's green now!

Glad I checked here, saved me a trek and a long wait at the Medicare office...
