Hi all,

Wanted to update this forum, as had the 801 granted a few weeks ago Super surreal feeling after all this time, to get an email, with no contact or warning, and suddenly your are a Permanent Resident!!

Having followed a few posts, referencing the partner visa enquiry form, and the likelihood myself & my partner will move to Europe in a few months, I submitted an enquiry. This referenced our impending move and that the application was decision ready; had recently updated the application with additional evidence, including our mortgage and property settlement. Amazingly the 801 was granted 2 weeks later!!

10 months processing time from 801 eligibility & submission. Final timeline below, wish everyone the best in their applications!!

820
02 August 2016 | Application Submitted
03 May 2017 | Granted

801
02 August 2018 | Eligible
11 August 2018 | Submitted
28 May 2019 | Enquiry Sent
14 June 2019 | Granted

They keep saying everywhere that you are only eligible for 801 2 years after your initial application but at the same time the official website states the following:

"We start assessing you for the permanent visa two years after you lodged your visa application. You can attach the documents up to one month before the two years date. Do not attach them before this time."

My 2 year date is approaching but I am not sure if I should wait for exactly two years or submit everything 1 month earlier. Please help!
I got on and started the form within that one month prior to eligibility but didn't actually get everything in until a couple of days after.

My take on it is that they let you do it up to a month early so that you have everything in by the time you hit eligibility, but not so early that the information is out of date.

Hi all. I applied my parner visa through an agent, same for both visas. I'm seeing people who applied around the same or after me getting their grants. I'm from a high risk country. My timelines are

820
Applied June 2016
Granted Feb 2018

801
Applied a June 2018
Still waiting for grant.- I have been sending documents and my agent uploading every 3 months since TR grant. Plus we have a 4 month old baby together. (I am aware that a baby won't speed up the process).

My question are should I send an enquiry or ask the agent to do so on my behalf? Am I within the new processing timeline or should I have been granted PR by now?

Its really hard to say. I applied 801 on 27th April 2018 still waiting for the decision. Indian Citizenship. Which date you applied in June 2018 ? I have seen lot of people applied in May - Dec 2018 have already got grants. Visa timeline is a mystery. All you can do is wait. I sent 3 email enquiries they did not respond to any. Seems they dont care. Hopefully within 3 months we should hear something from them.

Same here i applied mine on the 28th may 2018, most people on the wait are from high risk countries. I think there is nothing much we can do but just wait. I havent sent any enquiry yet. I want to wait for a couple more months and see what happens. I applied mine thru an agent.

Hey there,

You can send the enquiry however it is still two early as the Processing times for 801 are as follows

75% of applications: 22 months
90% of applications: 26 months

Yes i do know it is a long wait but hopefully you get a reply soon .

All the best

Visa timelines vary such a lot based on an individuals situation, which can include location.

I was reading about New Zealand immigration, and their experiences with Visa processing times.
An interesting point was that Low-risk visa applicants are now prioritised, with high-risk ones having to wait longer for decisions on their visas, as they are are queued behind the low risk ones.

Maybe Australia does something similar.

An article about Immigration in New Zealand states that there was an 88 percent rise in visa fraud last year, with the majority coming from India, south-east Asia and Eastern Europe. This causes extra checking for some nationalities.

An example of this might be why such different times occur as these two extremes for 801 grants:
Romania (Eastern Europe) 28.9 months. (In the 10% over 26 months)
UK 1.6 months. (In the 75% under 22 months)

Quote:
New Zealand Immigration assistant general manager Jeannie Melville said increases in fraud and more people wanting to come to New Zealand meant applicants classed as high-risk were having to wait longer for decisions on their visas.
Low-risk visa applicants are now prioritised and others are queued behind them. That has led to long delays in processing, particularly in India.

I just want to share with you guys. I got my PR this morning from Victoria processing centre. My timeline:

820 applied: 1 August 2016
820 granted: 6 June 2017
801 applied: 31 July 2018
801 granted: 5 July 2019

I was born in Peru, but I applied with Spanish passport.

No contact from immigration at all. I have been updating documents such as photos, bills, bank statements, etc, every 3 months. Last update I did first week of June. I uploaded around 80 files in total since 31st July 2018.

Thank you so much to this forum. I hope everyone gets their visa soon. I’m still shaking!!

Hi everyone,

I want to update everyone that I received my PR grant on Jan 2019 after almost 4 years. The reason I did not get time to inform you all, is that I got really busy with life that had been halted due to lack of having 801. My apologies.
