As my passport expired, I applied in my home country for a new passport and wanted in my new name after marriage.
On immi account there was just an option to update them about passport change details. I filled that part and attached my new passport and a proof of registration of my aussie marriage abroad where it states what my new surname will be. So complicated.. but let them figure it out. I updated them😊
Did you get a confirmation when you submitted the new passport details?

We got this after uploading the new passport details:
"Thank you for submitting your change of address and/or passport details. Your details have been updated.
Changes to passport details may take up to 24 to 48 hours to show in VEVO. This will not affect your travel.
"

Then everything online changed to the new married name. Not sure how quickly though, maybe a day or two.

So did you have children and a long term relationship? We were originally told we could apply for 820/801 together with the possibility of going straight to an 801 because of children and long term relationship. But sadly it didn't happen.

Some people in your situation, and who only get the 820 grant, do remind immigration about the long term married or defacto relationship. And the 801 gets issued quickly. It pays to ask.

Time frame to direct 801 that way, might be longer than to the 820, but faster than the normal way to the 801.

When did you apply for the 820 and get that granted?

Applied 3 months before you for the 300, and it took a similar time as yours for the entire process.

It's been interesting to look at some PMV to 801 grants in 2019, from the Philippines

JandE from Philippines took 44 months from PMV Application.
jhaddie from Philippines took 45.7 months from PMV Application.
ady90 from Philippines took 46 months from PMV Application.
Wow can't believe our application from start to finish took that long. Funny how the timelines are so close. I'm glad it's done now - I don't have to think about it anymore.

Further assessment

G’day guys,

We have just applied for my wife’s 801 visa. I’m wondering if it’s normal for the immi account to show “further assessment” straight away after uploading the supporting documents?

Thank you.

When we see that total time, coming up for 4 years of waiting, it really does make us stop and think about how time goes past.

Now just the Citizenship to do. Another bit of waiting..

Hi i have questions.

1. Do i need to provide form 801 and police check when we lodge documents?

2. Evidence we have to provide.. since we have approved 820 visa or since we have lodged 820 visa?

3. 888 form. Need to attache witness's passport or birth certi?

More tips that i need to know. Please.

Many Thanks in advance.

Well, still waiting on our 801. Coming up on 12 months since submitting everything (submitted 1 month early). We found a house and our agent suggested we offer with the caveat that we're still waiting on my 801 visa. My mortgage broker confirmed that I have to have my permanent visa before he can submit my financing, or it'll just get rejected. Some other issues mean that my husband can't be on the mortgage application. So...I'm kind of in limbo and worried that we won't get our house. I'm thinking I'll send another enquiry once the agent gets the offer documents to me. I'll be happy to get the grant at the 12 month mark...just makes it scary that the visa is the only thing holding us up from buying the house we want to get. Sigh. Otherwise, how is everyone else doing??

We had 2 home loans while my wife was on 820 visa and still is. Commonwealth bank and HSBC will consider the partner visa... Your broker should know this may be time to change the broker just saying.
