Here's my timeline

Applied 820: 17 October 2016
820 Granted: 21 March 2017
801 Eligibility and Application date: 17 October 2018

Still waiting for 801 but seeing other peoples timelines I'm hoping it'll be soon! Because my 820 came through in 7 months I was hoping the 801 would've had a similar timeline

Also I am from the UK. Wales specifically (woohoo)!
Haha right down to when you said you were Wales I was like ‘did my partner decide to join this forum and this is him replying’ 😂
Exact same situation, same timeline (October 2016 820 and October 2018 801) trying to buy a house, 820 granted in 7 months but he’s England not Wales but other than that spot on.

I’ve been speaking to a mortgage broker and if it makes you feel better applying for a home loan with your partner is still ok without a permenant visa. You have to apply with your partner and have a slightly limited choice of lender but commbank will still lend up to 95% and treat it no differently than if you were PR.
You don’t have foreign buyers stamp duty and if you’re first home buyers you still get the exemption/concession on stamp duty (possibly just a Victorian thing? Unsure what other states have for first home buyers). But yea just so you feel better, hopefully your visas through by then, but if it’s not you can still get a loan.
Funny how similar our situations are though, hopefully we both get ours soon

Haha that is funny! I also realised I wrote March instead of May in my initial post 😕. Edited it now. I always get those 2 months mixed up lol.

Thanks so much for the loan info 😊. Our current lease expires in June so the PR should be well and truly sorted by then. Good luck to you guys too!

Timelines - our experience

Hi all,

Great to see so many people getting grants on this forum. I thought I would post up our timeline to let people know that there are other people out there waiting alot longer, just to set expectations!

My wife is from Vietnam and here is our timeline so far:

820 application submitted: 2nd of July 2015
820 granted: 1st of April 2016
801 Eligibilty date: 2nd of July 2017
801 Submitted: 6th of July 2017
Assigned to CO and requested few more docs: 23rd of July 2019
Additional documents added (888 x 2 + Stat Dec): 29th of July 2019
Total wait since eligibility date for 801 = 26 months and 2 days

Spoke to immi office today and they said everything has been received so just to keep waiting but should be "Soon" given that it's over 26 months and we are offically in the 10% > 26 months

Good luck to all!!

Sure thing Sodalime,

We supplied 2 x 888's for the original 820 approval and then we were asked to supply 2 more recently by the CO for the 801

Hey Yíall Ė I am 1 month away from the 2 year mark of applying for the 820 (already granted), so Iíve started the 801 application in my Immi account accordingly. Iím not at the step of uploading documents yet, because I havenít submitted the 20+ page online 801 application. Before I hit submit application and itíll take me to the document upload page I remember from the 820 process, I am confused about an 801 question that asks if itís been 2 years since the 820. Technically, itís still a month away, but apparently per Immi email that I can start uploading documents 1 month before, I should answer the question as ďyesĒ itís been 2 years, so that way I can get to the document uploads. Technically though, it hasnít quite been 2 years. What did you guys do?
