Our timeline is very similar to yours :
820 applied : 8th May 2016
820 granted : 5th Dec 2017
801 applied : 27th April 2018
801 granted : Waiting 16+ months
I was hoping for decision within 16 months as others are getting it in between 2 months - 12 months mark. By the way things are going, i think we might have to wait till end of this year if we are lucky. Few are waiting from 24+ months. I sent 3 enquires in last 3 months, no response...

Timeline should appear below.
Waiting 9 months so far.
Not at all bothered by the wait until last week when I found out I can't apply for a job I want.

I am eligible to apply for my 801 in a couple of months in December however I’m also going back to UK this month for Christmas / holiday. I’m wanting to apply for 801 when I get back to Australia after this holiday. Do you think I’m taking a risk waiting just over a month after the eligible date to actually apply for 801 or will this be fine?
Long story short : How long do people actually have after 2 years date to add their documents for 801 PR visa?
Thanks so much !!

You’ll be fine, also it appears your wait time starts from eligibility not date you apply anyway so you’re not even extending your wait time.
There was a couple (recently? Or I read a thread from ages ago) who took forever to apply, eventually added the application to their immi account but hadn’t completed questions to even get to the upload page and a few weeks (maybe days?) later got a request for more information (and visa granted very soon after). But this was at least a year after eligibility.
A month is not an issue. You have basically until they get to your application to apply because it appears you’re in the que the day you’re eligible. Average wait times are about 12 months at the minutes so you’ve got time.

Woohoo congrats on the visa! Hopefully we see more coming through soon 🙂

Great news!! Just received our visa grant about 10 minutes ago. What an amazing end to the week! The CO called my husband about 30 minutes ago, verifying that we are still in a relationship. He told her of course. She told him that she would be making an assessment by the end of the day. He told her that's great, because we've made an offer on a house and need the visa to complete the sale. Then, just 10 minutes ago, the grants came into my inbox.

So over the moon!! It's been just over 12 months since submitting everything; and just over 11 months from eligibility.

JandE and cherrygn like this.
