It's good they replied to you. I sent two enquiries with no response.
I have been waiting for nearly 7 months only but getting more and more anxious.[/QUOTE]

I now feel a bit silly for asking such a stupid question. What did you say in your enquires if you don’t mind me asking?

I am pretty sure you are right. They can't really grant before being eligible.

Highly unlikely they would even look at it, before the eligibility date.

The fastest 801 grant, that I have seen, was 24 days after 801 eligibility date.

820 applied: 31 July 2017
801 applied: 31 July 2019
801 granted: 24 August 2019

Someone I know got his 820/801 granted at the same time. He applied for 820 in November 2017 and had been waiting for a long time. He a ent a few enquires. And last week he got both 820 and 801. He’s wasn’t even eligible for 801 yet.

A few people get the 820 and 801 at the same time, and are not constricted by the 2 year wait for the 801 eligibility.. They become eligible for the 801 on the date the 820 is granted. The 801 grant is normally a few seconds after their new eligibility date.

A couple of recent ones:
820 Applied May 18. 820+801 grant 15/8/19
820 Applied Apr 18. 820+801 grant 18/8/19

But, without having that long relationship prior to the 820 application, we have to do the 2 year wait.

The thing is they didn’t have a long relationship at the time of application.

He told her that's great, because we've made an offer on a house and need the visa to complete the sale. Then, just 10 minutes ago, the grants came into my inbox.

So over the moon!! It's been just over 12 months since submitting everything; and just over 11 months from eligibility.
Congratulation! So happy finally you got your 801!

That does sound odd.
To get the 801 at the same time as the 820, they say 3 yrs relationship or 2 years with a child.

He was thrilled for the grant. He said their relationship was only 1 year old when he applied for the visa. Had a child whilst awaiting.
