Potentially it could be an issue depending on the evidence that you provide, you will need alot of evidence to show immigration that you can still in a genuine and ongoing relationship.

Immigration could see it that you are living apart on a permanent basis so it is all about showing them that it is temporary. Also the question might be asked of why you were living together and now she has decided to go and live with her family? The other question they may ask is why you both cannot move to Wollongong together?

The Immigration department have a special form at their webpage: “Partner (Permanent) Processing Centres Enquiry Form”.

This service is only to be used to contact the Department in relation to a permanent partner application currently being processed.
The link for this form is at: https://immi.homeaffairs.gov.au/help...s-enquiry-form

Should we notify department if applicant is going overseas for 6 weeks while waiting for 801 grant ? If yes what is the best way to notify them ?

Don’t have to if it’s just a holiday and only for 6 weeks so not changing addresses or anything, but you could anyway just cause it might give them a bump and get a faster decision?

Yes, for a trip that long you should notify the department. You can do so with a "Change in Circumstance." You can find this in the application that you submitted. You just let them know you are traveling for 6 weeks and the address you'll be at. I only went for 2-3 weeks, so did not notify. However, I also wasn't waiting on a grant at that point, as it wasn't time to lodge the 801.

That being said, they can issue a decision on the 801 if you are inside or outside of Australia. Sometimes letting them know you'll be traveling can be a "nudge" to your application. Other times, nothing.
