Hi Guys,

I received my 801 permanent resident grant on Friday 8 Nov 2019!
It has been a roller coaster but we finally made it, I'm so glad all this non-sense long process is over.

I do have to add that I sent 4 inquiries since applying for my 801 to the department with no responses whatsoever and the answers I was looking for were not on their useless auto-response e-mail. So I decided Last Thursday) to file a complaint on the home affairs website to tell them that we at least deserve a response on my 4 inquiries and to our surprise the next day I received my grant. Don't be afraid to complain and to raise your voice when you have to.

Timeline:

Citizenship: Netherlands (born and raised in Colombia)
Same-sex couple
Onshore application - no agent or lawyer

820 applied on: 12 Feb 2017
820 granted on: 10 Jan 2018

801 applied on: 27 Jan 2019
801 granted on: 08 Nov 2019

This forum has been an amazing help and I actually build and made my application on my own purely with all your tips and reading almost every day! Thanks to each of you who are out there and who take the time to help others.

Cheers.

801 documents

Hi there!

This forum is so helpful and I have a question about the 801.

My timeline:
- 820 Applied: 28 January 2018
- 820 Granted: 28 November 2018

Now, I will be eligible to start my 801 application in a couple of months.
Partner and I been together for more than 5 years and I'm from low risk country

What kind of documents are needed? It is just add-on bout the last 2 years?

Thanks for the help

Cool

Hey everyone,

Long time reader here!

Irish citizen with Australian Partner.

Our journey has been an absolute nightmare and still fighting through it!

Applied August 2016 via paper with a registered agent.

April 2017 - s56 request for form 80, police check, and more evidence
( Agent didn't forward this Email for almost 6 months passed the required response time) when he finally did send it to us we quickly emailed the department letting them know what had happened and we received a phone call from our case officer the very same day giving us a further 28 days to provide the requested information(PHEW)!!!

June 2018 - s57 Natural Justice letter - My partners step father placed a false dob in to the department claiming us to be in a false relationship to get back at her mother for placing a restraining order upon him! 28 days given to provide evidence against the allegations or to withdraw application.

At the time the agent we were using told us to just write a formal letter explaining our situation but we knew this wouldn't be enough so we hired a well known immigration lawyer to assist!

July 2018 - 820 Grant - We took the whole month to dig deep and we fought the fight proved the allegations wrong and had an amazing lawyer on our side to help so within 1.5 weeks of us providing evidence against the allegations we got an approval!

Now we sit on 15 months since eligibility for the 801 and can't help but stress and be anxious about whats to come next!

Good luck too all and hopefully we will see you on the other side of the 801!

Hi guys. I have been granted a permanent visa few weeks ago but my wife and I just had a baby a week ago. Now my question is: Should I still inform the home affairs office by providing an update using form 1022 and if yes, to what email address should I write to with the attached form? Thanks in advance....

For those who had their 820 and 801 granted at the same time, did this happen before 24 months? Or after?

Our agent was hopeful that this would happen for us as we were long term relationship with an Australian Citizen child. It did not happen and now it seems we are in a longer line than most others despite our long term relationship, and now 2 Australian Citizen children. WTF!
