Please update your flag here .

Soo excited to post that I received my 801 visa this morning.
Timeline
August 2017 - Applied for 820
June 2018 - granted 820
June 2019 - letter to prepare document for second stage
July 2019- applied for 801
October 2019 - sent an enquiry regarding the visa
December 7th 2019 - 801 granted.

I added a photo of my partners graduation to our immi account last night prior to the grant.

It's such a big relief and a good early Christmas gift.
Wishing everyone a quick response to their application.

Also I'm from a high risk country

Please update your flag here .

Been together since 2013
Married in Australia March 2016
Applied for 820/801 Feb 2017 Onshore
Submitted a lot of info, social, finance etc etc we bought a house together in August 2018
AFP clearance July 2019
Medicals submitted July 2019
CO requested further proof we are still in the relationship
22 months and counting

We totally understand the need for a process but from what I read on this forum the lack of transparency and updates causes large amounts of anxiety and stress. There has to be a better way

So glad to have received my grant today.
Thanks to this forum that kept me company during the wait.
Timeline:
Feb 2017 - applied for 820
Feb 2018 - 820 grant
Feb 2019 - applied for 801
Dec 2019 - s56 requst for more info (just one missing document)
Dec 2019 - 801 grant (1 day after document submitted)

So 1 year wait for 820 and another 10 months for 801.
Best wishes to everyone still waiting.

Have you had the 820 grant yet? It isn't mentioned above.

With an 820 submission date of Feb 2017, you are almost at 3 years for the 820, but only 10 months from the 801 eligibility date.

Being married since 2016, does make your timeline look way too long.. I can understand you being anxious. What country are you from?

It would be nice to know exactly where we are in the process. It was a pain waiting and wondering though our 3 visas, over 44 months, to get PR.

In the old days, it was less stressful, as people didn't know how long it was taking others. No shared timelines etc.

I think Immigration use their existing system of declared times (eg: 801 times (last quoted at 18-26 for October grants) to try to make us think it will take that long, and not stress.

But, as many people get the grant at about 12 months, this alone creates anxiety, once we find out.

I would personally like to see processing times given in 25% groups, instead of the current way (75% done in under 18 months, 15% done in 18 to 26 months and 10% in over 26 months).
25% in under 10 months, 25% in 10 to 15 months, 25% in 15 to 18 months and 25% over 18 months, would make it more interesting.

But it might mean more anxiety for those outside the first 25% group.

In that case, I would guess that you will probably go direct to the 801, and they might be waiting till you are nearer the 801 eligibility date (Feb 2020 for you), and have a total processing time from 820 application to 801 grant of around 24 months, instead of the more usual 32-36 months.

Hopefully you skip that extra waiting time for PR.

Congratulations!!!

If you don’t mind me asking. What did you enquire about when you contacted them?

It’s interesting how different processing times are case to case.

My timeline is:
March 2017 - Applied for 820
December 2017 - Request for police clearance
Jan 2018 - 820 granted
March 2019 - Applied for 801
Still waiting.

From low risk country - Sweden
Waiting...
