Hi all,

First time poster here. My wife is immigrating from the USA, we have travelled back and forth three times during our visa process.

To begin with, this is our timeline of events:

Arrived on 19th June 2016 on (462 workers visa)
We met and got married before this visa expired.
Bridging Visa B Submitted 5th June 2017, granted same day
820 Submitted 5th June 2017
Request for more information 23rd August 2018
820 Granted 17th October 2018
801 Eligibility 5th June 2019
801 Applied 9th June 2019

Haven't heard anything else since...

A question I do have.

We are expecting our first child in April, was wondering how we go about contacting immigration? is it via email, upload to application, phone call etc?

I’m not sure who processed the 801 as there wasn’t a footer on the letter. The 820 was processed in Washington if that helps.

Oh right that’s interesting that the first one was actually processed overseas.. thanks for the response 🙂

What state do you live in/submitted your application in? Good to see a June application Being processed now though. Hopefully mine won’t be too far off either.

The 820 is the temp Visa.
You can't start the 801 permanent process if the 820 hasn't been granted
Hey Mate,

Thanks for replying. You've got me even more confused now. I'm just looking through my partner's Immi account.

When we did the initial application in Sept 2017 he was granted a Bridging visa A class WA - What he calls the temp visa - straight away, which I assume is standard practise while they process the 820/801 application. Is my understanding correct?

Since that time we received another message a year later around Sept 2018 saying our application was in progress and we've received a few more of them over 2019 till a few months back we finally got the request for more information (updated health check, police checks) due to the originial ones expiring.

So from my understanding we still don't have an 820? Or is the A visa the 820?

Upload the birth certificate after birth.
I have read that some people uploaded scans, but I guess they would need parents names on them to have a value.

As you have travelled back and forward three times, have you uploaded flight tickets/boarding cards for both of you, for each trip?

There is the confusion, the temp visa is normally referred to as the 820.

Sounds like you are still on the Bridging visa, not the 820.

If I was you, I would be sending a request to find out why the delay, as most of the Sept 2017 applications, that I have seen on the forum, were granted in 2018.

What is the nationality?
