Hey Roger K!

We were never granted the 820, and this morning both the 820 and the 801 grant came through at the same time. (because you are eligible for the 801 24 months after the application, not after the grant of 820)

the 820 is SUPPOSED to be granted earlier to tide you over til being eligible for 801 consideration. But they never gave it to us, so we were on a bridging visa for 28 months, and then they granted both at the same time.

The 801 does not need another Medical. You would have done that when you did the 820 application.

However, some Medical centre are not doing medicals at the moment, due to other health issues.

Partner Visa 801 Granted!

Hi All,

Got some great news just before Close of Business today. My wife has just been granted her Partner Visa Subclass 801. Had tears of joy to see the Immi Grant notification in her email. The whole process of 820 and 801 took approximately 2.5 years. Really impressed and feel elated!

Timeline below
Wife Entry to Australia on Visa Subclass 600 : May 2017
Application for Partner Visa (820 & 801) : October 2017
Bridging Visa Granted : October 2017
Partner Visa Subclass 820 Granted : December 2018
Eligibility Mail for Subclass 801 Received : September 2019
Application for Subclass 801 lodged : September 2019
Partner Visa 801 granted : April 20th 2020!

Nationality : Indian

Thank you everyone for the support. I am not sure what I would have done to lodge the partner visa if not for this forum. All the documentation and details was all in this forum. Calls for a celebration!

Thanks and Regards
Ravi

Congrats Ravi, just have one question for you: when you applied 801 in Sep 19, was there a online question asking if there had been 24 months since you applied your 820? Did you selected 'yes' to go ahead?

We received an email from Immigration telling us to lodge 801 a month before 24 months of 820 has been applied but when we saw this question online we chose no, the system wouldn't let us go ahead. So I called Immigration, they told us to wait until 24 months ends. So I'm confused. ..

You will get an (auto generated) email from the dept a couple of weeks prior to the eligibility date. Ours came about 4 weeks ahead of the 24 month point. And it says you can go ahead with the application to stage 2.

Thanks for the reply. We did received the auto email from the dept a months ahead but when we select 'no' to the question "Has it been 24 months since you applied 820' (which is supposed to be the truth), the system wouldn't let us go ahead...We have to select 'Yes' to go to the next question, but obviously we would be lying to do that...

Hey. It doesn't really matter. I selected Yes and went ahead. If Immigration are sending a mail and telling you that you are eligible to apply, then you should submit the application and upload the documents. I don't think a case officer would go and check your application till the 24 month period even though you submit it. That will be the case as far as I know.

Once they send you the email to say you can proceed, you can say yes to that answer. As I understand it, the department will only begin to look at the application once to eligibility date has passed.

I seemed to think it was a way for you to start front loading some docs by the time the eligibility date was triggered. That's what we did.

Those times (13-22) are the actuals for March finalisations. However, many of the 75% done in under 13 months, took about 8 or 9 months.

These are the official times quoted by Australian Immigration, for the 801 visas finalised in each month.

Mar 2020: 13-22 = 75% took up to 13 months. 10% took over 22 months.
Feb 2020: 11-22 = 75% took up to 11 months. 10% took over 22 months.

March was updated yesterday.
