Hopefully not.
We didn't. But just follow what is asked of you. It's fairly straight forward.

Good news !

801 Granted, and such a happy time to pass through this milestone.

We found the DOHA great to deal with through the whole process, even though there was only limited contact, when there was, it was always pleasant.

This forum has been great too, and a lot of advice given is gold, and thanks to those who have interacted with me. I will hang around to offer some experience for those that might need it.

For those on this journey, just provide as much ongoing evidence of your relationship as you can. A true and loving relationship is easy to document...

Best regards....

Congratulations. When was your 820 granted? The last I recall was you were waiting for the 820 grant.

The 820 was granted 5/2019.

In 03/2020 we got the email saying we could proceed with the 801 application.

All in all from start to finish it took about 23 months.

That's very fast. Just 2 or 3 weeks after your 801 eligibility date?

Yep! Maybe there's a couple of factors along with the usual stuff...

- we were married before the original application.
- a ton of photographic evidence showing the evolution of our relationship.
I think this is the most important thing. If the relationship is real, and you can capture real evidence of that over a lengthy period of time, that will show the case officers everything is genuine.

Maybe we popped up in the queue, and everything was overwhelmingly clear. It's good to know the diligence and hard work paid off.

Couldn't be happier!

Any suggestion?

Does anyone have a similar timeline with me?

03/2015: Applied visa subclass 300
01/2016: Granted Visa 300
06/2016: Applied visa 820
03/2017: Granted Visa 820 (got it in 9 months)
07/2018: Eligible for visa 801 (Automatic email from DOHA)
09/2018: Applied for 801 - until now (20 months still processing)

We had updated our solid evidence every 3 months including those recommended from here and applied through an agent.

We have bought a house, cars and ran a business together but we are still waiting. I had to pay the expensive school fee for my step-son course and mentioned with the agent any solutions for us to ask an immigration officer for our application as our business is going down due to the pandemic and we cannot afford to keep going with his study and prevent him to become a health professional as he wishes. The agent suggests that we should not do anything, our application is so excellent now.

We notice that the global timeline is 13-21 months, and we are currently at 20 months, do you have any suggestion if our timeline is reached (next month) and should we contact with the immigration officer to explain our case clearly?

I am always checking this useful forum and congratulations for those hold the PR. Many Thanks.
