UK visa
Applied onshore on ETA June 2017
Asked for more info in april 2019
820 approved may 2019
Applied 801 august 2019
Still waiting for 801.
Current 801 processing times:
Apr 2020: 10-19 = 75% took up to 10 months. 10% took over 19 months.
Those in that 75% can be as fast as 2 or 3 months.

I have seen 7 that applied for the 820 in June 2017, and 4 had the 801 granted in March or April 2020, while 3 either haven't or have not come back to the forum and told anyone.

3 of the 4 that were granted the 801, had a PMV application in 2016, so had actually been waiting even longer.

It could be worth an enquiry, to check if they are waiting from anything from you. Our own experience was that a genuine enquiry appeared to speed up the 801.

Some have been delayed when they forgot to upload the sponsors declaration.

Thank you for your reply we were going to upload some more information today and go from there it might help speed things up maybe, if not maybe send an enquiry in a week or 2 to see what happens

G'Day.
I have been reading this forum on and off for a while and thought to add my experience, and to also ask for any updates of those in a similar situation.

Here goes.

I met my partner here in Australia in 2013. Returned to UK in 2014 as Visitor Visa expired. Maintained our relationship via Skype and visits to each other, including holidays together away from our own countries. Hardest thing we have been through together, but so worth it. Married in the British Embassy in Perth in 2016, eighteen months before same sex marriage was legalised here. Moved here in June 2018, and applied for Partner Visa 820 in Sept 2018. We did this through an agent, and they have been very helpful every step of the way.
Two weeks ago my agent advised that I now have a case officer and a new AFP certificate was requested by them. He was encouraged that no more evidence was asked by them. I hope this information is helpful.

I wanted to ask, that we were married for 2.5 years before we applied for the visa's, should I get hopeful that both the 820 and 801 visa's might be granted simutaneously? I have read conflicting accounts online that it never happens and just recently it seems to be happening to some?

Thanks in advance.

You normally need 3 years together (married or defacto or combination), or 2 years if you have children, at time of application.

Most of the direct to 801 grants do not say how long they have been together. But I did see one that was married for 8 years, and they got the 801 very quickly.

Cheers JandE.
We were together from July 2013, and married from Feb 2016. So together for 5 years before submitting the application.

Fingers crossed.

Hi everyone!

Woke up to the amazing news that I had my 801 visa granted today. I am from the UK so low risk - my timeline:

820 Submitted - 21 Feb 2018
820 Granted - 21 Jan 2019
801 Submitted - 8 February 2020
801 Granted - 29 May 2020

And since I couldn't find a huge amount on the topic, this is a list of the attachments I sent with the applications:

Social

2 Stat Decs describing how our relationship has developed since application (I was actually going to submit 4!)
A photo collage of us over the last two years, with us at events, weddings, on holidays, with our cat, our families meeting over Christmas and New Year 2019

Commitment
Documents showing we are both each other's super beneficiary
Documents showing we are both each other's next of kin/emergency contact at work
Paragraph in applicant statement about our future plans
Driving licences showing we live at same address

Finances
Joint bank statement
Joint leases from the last two years

Household
Applicant statement describing how we divide chores etc. This statement also described how our relationship developed over the last two years since application for 820

I was actually still waiting for a couple of 888s and my partner's statement but it already got approved so I guess I don't need them now!

Just out of curiosity. My surname begins with W.
Could that have any bearing on hearing about a decision? Daft I know, but.......
Are notifications of grants released by batches and therefore alphabetically?
Grasping at straws here.
Have a good weekend.

801s seem to be being done quite fast during Covid.

Less work on other areas maybe allows time to clear out some of the easier onshore permanent visas.
