Finally after wait of 14 month my 801 Grant notification came in this afternoon and am so HAPPY and much relieved to hear this news. I have made stupid mistake to follow path of getting PR through Partner visa where I could have applied and nailed it by going through states sponsorship 4 years back and would have been an Australian citizen by now. But nevertheless I am happy with what i have on my plate now.

So here is my time line:
820 Application Submission: 16-Jun-14
820 Grant: 16-SEP-15
801 Application Submission: 16-Jun-16
801 Grant: 17-08-17

I contacted immi 3 times to inquire about 801 visa (1st after 11 months, 2nd 13 months and last 2 days ago) and always received their auto-generated email. Last inquiry I made was through web form as mentioned by another user on this forum few pages back. In all this journey, I have never been contacted by immi to provide any info.

Good Luck to all of you.

Generally, emails do not work. I can't remember the last time I saw someone get a reply to an email they sent to the permanent partner processing area.

In all honesty, 2 people can write the same thing and it works for one and doesn't work for the other.

I lodged a complaint for my husband and my husband's visa got approved, I know of a few the used the same details and none of them have had their visa processed. It is all luck of the draw really.

Have you been uploading evidence regularly? That does seem to help as well.

Make a formal complain, not just application progress inquiry. With a complain they will get back to you with a case number to follow up after 2 weeks. It works for me and some others.

Mish, CollegeGirl & others, please help me to understand my obligations after 801 visa granted, ie do I have to inform them if I move somewhere else, do I have to update with relevant Depts like RTA, Tax, kids' schools, Medicare? Do I still have to collect and keep all upcoming evidences & photos?

Thanks & have a nice weekend.

ps. In my case I first made an inquiry, nothing happened except a generic email. Then later I lodged formal complain. They get back saying will have a look, with case number to follow up. Then a phone interview and a grant letter.

As far as I know once you're 801 is granted you're free and don't have to contact Immi again (in regards to your visa).

Too early to request info update I would say consider service standard is now up to 18 months, but it is up to you. As for me, I waited nearly 2 years before lodging a complain. However, at least you know that they are working on your case with such further requests. Soon you will be hearing from the Dept.
