I was on a student visa. we uploaded documents regularly - utility bills, rates, body corp, etc. Maybe that could have helped.

Hi, Pikachufan,
Can you please tell me whether you submitted any complaint to the DIBP at all? Is there any other situations making your 801 granted faster?
I have been on this forum for a little while, i only started to post just after reading your post. The reason is i have a similar eligibility date to yours, my 801 eligibility date was 10/09/16 but i am still waiting. 820 and 801 both submitted via paper, and i am living in Brisbane. Ive sent an email to the DIBP 6months after 801 eligibility date but no response. So i thought i just stay quiet until anyone who has similar 801 eligibility date gets granted.
So its nearly 12months, and i am still waiting...

so around 10.5 months waiting time.

820/801 initially lodged via paper on the 13/10/2014
Lodged the 801 online.

DIBP did not contact us for anything.

All the best for those who are waiting.

I am happy to help anyone with any doubts.

thank you to this group

Cases are different and luck also supports. I have seen someone whose visa took only 4 months and was granted while I have been witing for the last 14 months. We have the same eligibility date. I am still waiting. As well, 801 visa takes shorter for some applicanats than others. So having the same eligibility does no neccessarily mean to have the same processing times.

Wish you the best.

yes we did lodge a complaint around the ninth month. Two weeks after that we complained to the ombudsman which failed. Then, on the 10th of August we inquired on the DIBP website.

We also did upload documents regularly online which could have helped.

When we complained to the DIBO and the ombudsman we mentioned that DIBP quoted us 6-8 months processing time for the 801 ( in their email asking us to apply for the 801) and it is taking longer than the proposed time frame.

The ombudsman rejected this complaint.

We inquired directly again two months later on the DIBP website requesting them about the status of our application. No reply was given.
