I know we never have firm timelines on any of this, but we have an 801 in process for my partner, and were recently asked to resubmit the police check as the previous one has expired. They didn't ask for anything else. Can we be at all hopeful that this means it might be close to a decision?

Our eligibility date was Jan 2017, and we applied in April 2017, so it has only been 6 months which I know is very early. However since then we have requested immigration consider compassionate reasons to speed up the process for us (via letters to immigration, and our local MP also tried to contact them on our behalf), but that hasn't helped so far. It's a reasonably complicated and long story as to why we need it quickly, so I won't bother with the full explanation unless you think it's relevant. It is a very genuine request though, we wouldn't ask unless we really felt there was no other choice.

Anyway, we're now just really hoping hoping the decision might be coming quickly, and our agent says it might be so but we can't be sure. Is it more likely that they just asked for an updated document because the old one is due to expire, and nothing more than that?

Any insight, reassuring or otherwise, would be helpful. Thanks all.
It is hard to tell. Some get asked just before the grant and others are asked when it is going to expire and it is 6 months or more until they get the decision ... time will tell.

DIBP doesn't do priority processing for 801 because you already have work, study and travel rights. Quite a few have tried to get theirs processed to access domestic rates for university and have been told no.

Sorry, I don't have any better news.

Hello,

In 10 days I will hit my 12 months waiting for my 801. I was thinking of sending off a enquiry through the online form: https://www.border.gov.au/about/corp...s-enquiry-form

However I was wondering if anybody would be kind enough to proof read what I intend to send as I am always incredibly over conscious of what I send through to Immi.

The main reasons I'm asking for advice is that I don't want to come across that our relationship in anyway is struggling, as it is not, I just wanted to highlight how the long wait affects our lives.
Should I mention that the email sent just before my eligibility date stated 6-8months so we made out plans around that time frame?

Thank you to anyone who takes the time to read it, I've not posted anything this personal before so please be respectful (as you always are).

To Whom It May Concern,

I would like to enquire about the status of my partner visa 801 application.
I understand that there is a large volume of visa's awaiting processing however the long time period of waiting is beginning to impact my partner and I life.

We both wish to complete further education, we plan to travel and after hopefully buy our first home together. While these goals are all achievable while awaiting a decision, it's the unknown status of my 801 that put our plans on hold.

I am hesitant to commit to a course financially as my residency status is pending. Equally my partner does not wish to en roll in long term study if we had to potentially re locate to England.

We wish to travel however the idea is approached with trepidation as again we do not know where our permanent home will eventually be.

With buying a property, as a couple it is difficult to obtain a mortgage on a temporary residency visa. The deposit amount is greater along with assets needing to be upwards of $50,000 with our current bank. Along with other hurdles and requirements.

As well as these reasons the continuous wait, which I appreciate is still within processing estimates, begins to take a toll. It is difficult to jump whole heartedly into any future plans as they are always clouded by a 'what if', our life together almost feel on hold at this point until a decision is made.

I appreciate that the amount of visa's processing is high however any update or information regarding my visa would be greatly appreciated.

Thank you for your time.
Regards.

In honesty, I don't even know if they read the emails as I have never heard of one person getting a response back from the general email address.

IF they do reply they will most likely mention what the global processing times are anyway.

It is hard to word the email as I can see where you are coming from but in part/s it sounds like the relationship is going through a tough point.

All good I don't come on here much as it just makes me sad seeing people who have been waiting shorted get granted, I guess it's luck of the draw rather than when you applied in most cases, at least it feels like that sometimes lol!
