The hands of go...I mean Immigration

Anybody else having a hard week with the whole - trusting strangers to make life changing decisions about your future?

I can't find who warned me previously about TV's taking up to a month to process, but I should have listened to you instead of taking the processing standards listed on the Australia House London website seriously. Sadly my husband confirmed with them yesterday. My baby can be born basically any minute now, and he is likley to miss out on her birth and if they reject his TV application, a few solid months of her life. It will force us to make very difficult decisions about how we are to live while we wait for the 309 to be processed.

Having an angry immigration pity party today

I'm so sorry. It happened to my partner's sister too... Fortunately for her, she gave up on them early enough and flew to the UK to have her baby with her partner. Then a few months later, flew back to Oz with babe in arms to wait it out.

Your flag is UK? Can't he come on an ETA and at least be there for the birth?

No he also has a criminal record so he cant apply for eta...we started the TV process late may and have had some hurdles (i.e. applied for the wrong visa!!). The best we can do is hope for the best!

Well, I'll be hoping for you from here. Maybe having hope from a third continent is all you need to tip the karma scales

That was probably me. However, Cairo took 2.5 week still longer than the 3 days that they did it earlier in the year. I know how you feel, nothing like having a baby but I had told immigration that I had to have surgery and wanted my partner here to support me when it happens and they still rejected his visa so now will have to go it alone. I can't imagine what it would be like having to have a baby on your own.

Fingers crossed for you that they approve his visa and he is in oz in time for the birth

Ugh, I feel for you SO much kmarees. I can't even imagine what it would be like going through that alone. My heart goes out to you. I really hope they get it together in time for him to be there!

Thank-you for your kind words everyone. My husband actually managed to speak to the person who was handling the application. She said she sent it back to London for a higher review...which is perplexing since we sent it to London. It seems when you call the Australian House number you get sent to a Spanish switchboard. I wonder if Madrid is taking the overflow of applications at the moment. Our 309 CO has a Spanish sounding name too.

I have a letter coming from my Obstetrician stating how important it us for him to be there so i'll forward it on. Beyond that, there is very little we can do.

Thanks again, your best wishes are so much appreciated.

And Mish, very sorry you have to have your surgery without your partner. Its such a vulnerable time leading up to and after for the recovery. I know how much help my husband was when I had surgery a couple of years ago so I really feel for you.

So I looked into this and I had no idea there was a call centre outside of Australia House in London - its the Europe Processing Centre and I just happened to see a job description for a client services officer showing you must speak english and another european language - we must have just been lucky to speak to some of the Spandiards working there

So I take it the EPC process basic applications and run the enquiries line and anthing that sits out of that gets referred back to the CO's at Australia House.

I thought that was interesting, in case anybody else wanted to know!

MissMontie - thanks for your offer of support, you may just find me ranting in your inbox soon xx
