I do know of someone who was told by their CO...your application will be approved but not for another few months.

We also did ask if she required any further information and that was the query I expected an answer to. I know how busy they are and we have not sent her many emails at all but her previous responses to us were conversations not just a standard reply. That is my issue.
I saw on another thread that somebody is friend of a friend of an Australian Immigration employee and they said that being so close to the EOFY with all the new changes happenning from 1st July, everybody is busy in and out of training so responses and approvals will be minimal in the last weeks leading up to EOFY. May explain the uncharacteristic lack of response from your CO?

Have a look at Pinterest, you'll find that it's an online pinboard where you can store photos etc that you find online. Many of us set up mulitple boards for each subject, such as Engagement, Wedding, Honeymoon, Travel, Clothing etc etc

Hi Moose,

Sorry to hear that your visa is taking a long time to process. Since nobody has yet mentioned it here, perhaps they have reached the maximum number of grants for this financial year and they are waiting for July to roll over?

It may be the case that the CO's are receiving many requests identical to yours from lots of different people, and they're tired of manually writing back to everyone to tell them the same story, so they've just decided to send you a copy/paste response.

We can only hope that is the case.. capping may now be in effect for this financial year and we don't even know.

Good luck and I hope you get a speedy approval soon.

Hi Eleanor, the visa application fees will be increased and there are a number of crucial forms being changed also. Collegegirl posted about this in the sticky threads so see the thread: http://www.australiaforum.com/visas-...-1-2013-a.html

Very few countries are capping PMVs thus far (at least from what we've heard). However, we've also heard that the COs are spacing things out at the end of the year so as to meet certain standards for how many they process during the year. I'd be willing to bet we see a HUGE influx of approvals in July! I can't wait! So excited for those of you who might be part of it...

Guy's,

Thank you all for your posts and comments and I apologise for venting my frustration. We are about 8 months into what is an average processing time of 12 months so I am a realist and I do understand that could mean the visa is approved any day or possibly not for another 5 months or more.

I really think we all need to write to the government (hard to tell which one at the moment) to express our views about the impacts this process has on us and our loved ones lives and make a point about the lack of communication during the application process.

I am sure if applicants were given updates about their applications or advised that their application will be approved or is looking positive then it would make the waiting time much more bearable and also stop the number of queries they must receive.

Why not be honest if they have reached their cap limit for this Financial year if that is the case?

Personally I know that If we were told today that our application looks like it will be approved then we could relax and not contact them. But because we know nothing and if we hear nothing for a few months we will definitely be contacting them again.

IMO their lack of feedback and communication means that many applicants do e-mail them asking for updates regularly, therefore creating more work for them. This whole system needs to move to some form of on line lodgement and tracking system. That way applicants could log on to see if their application is progressing and not have to annoy their CO's.

I saw somewhere on this forum that a member contacted their local MP who was able to obtain some very useful information about their specific case from DIAC on their behalf. I don't know if you would be interested in that, but it's certainly an option. That's what our government representatives are there for I guess.

Other than that, I can't agree more that the process sucks hard and there's a lot of emotion and personal feelings involved with visa applications. They are quite within their right to say it can take up to 12 months but at the same time the waiting process can really tear your hearts out.

I know a married couple with kids who are on 457 visas and decided to go back to their home country for a 2 week holiday, only to be refused immigration clearance in Australia on their way back in. It's been more than 3 months and they still aren't back here to the place they call home (mortage, multiple cars, full time employment, kids in school, family and friends). I don't know their exact situation or what happened with their visas but it's not a nice place to be when you aren't getting any updates or useful information from our own government, of which we pay taxes & application fees to have all of these services available to us.

Best wishes to you and your partner...hang in there!
