No need to explain, everybody makes mistakes it doesn't mean you're a bad person!

I am sure that character references from your DC & Police friends would make a world of difference.

I'm not sure how long the paper application would take to process as apposed to the online one, but if you don't intend to go until Jan, then maybe hold off applying for a couple of months and gather evidence to include in your appliction. Character references from family, friends and important people in the community will help. A statement from you detailing the circumstances and how you have stayed out of trouble since - and how you intend on staying out of trouble...anything else that might make you look good on paper (i.e. volunteering, fundraising, taking care of your elderly grandmother...). Remember that immigration aren't meeting you in person, they can only go by what you submit to them.

Sounds like you have alot of good people on your side, i'm sure you'll be fine.

What I would do, is be proactive and obtain a police certificate from ACRO becuase you may find they will want to see it. It will list the offence on there officially and it will show immigration that you had no convictions or cautions before or after the fact.

I know with the tourist visa's you have to submit a paper one if you have a record because the online application form doesn't facilitate additional evidence in the event of a criminal record being declared so I think i'm spot on by advising you to go for a paper application, however make sure you run this by a migration agent as you said becuase I am not an expert, just knowledgable about people immigrating with criminal records is all :-)

I've not been in any trouble since then. Just wondering if anyone can shed any light on weather ill get a working holiday visa and how i should go about it ? Also would they refuse me by post in England or would they refuse me at the airport in Australia ? Many thanks
How did you get on with your application? I've got a criminal record for battery and wondering what the chances of getting a WHV are? Your help would be appreciated
